I know of this kit and know a guy who is making one who has posted some pictures on the South forum here.

Here is my take, first off, this car has been for sale for a while now and the price keeps coming down a little. The kit IMHO works better on the convertible because of the roof line of the jag coupe compared to the aston coupe. Secondly you dont ever really see a side shot of these cars with this kit because there is something just out of place with the rear quarters, again just my opinion.

The kits like 4K, throw in 5 for the paint and bodywork (which is high in my opinion) then add the cost of the starter car and it is a little overpriced.

And the back end reminds me of a Neon.

It amazes me how much people are willing to put into these kitcars. The Cobras are thru the roof: http://motors.completed.shop.ebay.co...5&_sop=3&_sc=1

Would have been pretty cool if not for the pimp-azz doors. Overpriced for what's underneath, and no maintenance records (we all know what that can mean) drives the real value down to about $10-13,000. Interesting idea, though.

Why wreck a gorgeous XK by turning it into a kit car?????
If it was a Toyota MR2 underneath, maybe, as a 'fun' project.
But wrecking an already gorgeous car, just to turn it into what is already its sister????
MADNESS!
Roy.

I'll buck the trend here and say that it doesn't look half-bad, except for the silly-*** Lambo doors. It would definitely stand out, and 99% of people wouldn't recognize it for either an XK8 or an AM. If someone was looking to get attention, that car would do it.

Default Hello, from that guy... :)

Hey, all. Good to see some familiar faces in this thread. I've been following the build of this car for sale. It was built by S&H motors in NY and their site has a blog with pics.... I can't see why anybody would want to build a kit car for profit. I assume the reason why they're asking over $28K is to recoup the labor costs? Ronnie

I contacted the people who make the Ashmart kit for the xk8 for this conversion and they were extremely unhelpful... they said they have sold lots of kits but couldn't put me in touch with anyone to talk to or send me any additional pictures... seemed to me they were evasive and hiding the flaws of the kit.. and therefore didn't want me to do my due diligence etc.... my .02 cents

Default Ashmart

Hey, Windy. I have the kit and I did my homework on the company before even calling them (several of my initals posts refer to my experience with them). Many people don't like their customer service and it's bad enough that some people accuse them of being frauds. I doubt they've been involved with any Ashmart builds since making the initial molds/car and that was probably 3 or 4 years ago! They're legit but only make & sell the kits. If you call them ready to purchase a kit, credit card ready to drop $$$$, Mr. Johnson is great to work with. You still have to get it shipped though and that's the buyers responsibility. I used the shipping company they recommended and that transaction/delivery was easy. The people to possibly ask questions is Carkitmaker.com. They ares a local body shop (same area as Carkitinc) that has done a few builds and they might talk to you. Or, you can always contact me. Don't be discouraged... Ronnie
