XK8 Shifter Cable replacement and more!
Hi All,
This morning as I was pulling into the parking spot where I pick up my work vehicle, I said to myself "This Cat is running Really Nice". When I went to put it in Park I had a Normal click thru Neutral, then a free shifter. I snapped the shift cable at the connector nut.
How much of a job is it to change the cable, and will I need to make very much adjustment to it? It looks pretty straight forward. I also found three broken pieces of plastic in the shifter housing. They appear to be part of the disk (Maybe 1/5 of the plate) that rotates when going to the J-Gate, but that's all there was. No full plate. I thought there are micro switches telling the ECU what gear you are in when using the J-Gate, but I don't see any on the left side of the shifter box. Also, what is the micro switch at the front of the shifter for? I doesn't seem to be contacted by anything that I can see.
Much thanks,
erjent

As soon as I posted this I found a video on Youtube about the shifter. The man making the video has a XKR and his shifter did not have the round plate installed. Some one donated you to him to fix his issue. I'm guessing that these break easily. Is there a replacement available?
I found a sticker LJA 6195 BF attached to one of the broken pieces.

There are three different types of gearboxes on these cars, and I would guess three different types of gear shifter mechanisms. If you tell us which one you've got it would help with the answers.
The D4 cam plate was NSS (NOT SOLD or SERVICED SEPARATELY) from Jaguar when I was at the dealer.
Maybe someone has them now?
Get a used one or maybe have it 'printed'?
The CAM operates the switch when the selector lever is move from DRIVE to 4th.
