Xk8 tensioner repair bill
#21
Thanks now I know
I have the opportunity to pick up a 02 with 130,000 for 1200.00 but one of the belt's is broke , it's in otherwise mint condition.. I've always been a Mercedes gal. In fact , I've changed out a timing chain on a 68' Benz myself..but this one I'll have to do more research on. Must be more to the story. Thanks for info.

Catherine,
Welcome to the forum. You've obviously been doing some "gold digging" on this forum to find this 4 year old post. John's question is in regard to what belt you're referring to. What is the 02 Jag you're referring to - a XK8 or the XKR, a coup or a convertible?

These cars are beautiful and if in a good condition, are fabulous GT cruisers and the XKRs are far more sporty than the XK8s. But at 130,000 miles, I would be wary as you need to know the service history, otherwise you could have problems with the chain tensioners, coolant system and the front suspension. These are typical "big ticket" items that may have made the Previous Owner sell the car. For me, as a home hobby mechanic, I rather look forward to these "challenges" and doing the labour myself keeps the costs down.
Good luck what ever you decide to do.
