Default XK8s and XKRs over the Golden Gate Bridge

An old Jag buddy just sent me this link. I'd kind of forgotten about it--how could I ?!?! One of the best times ever!!! Especially the line up at the end.

If you haven't seen it before, enjoy it now. It goes back a few years, but I think it is timeless--just like our cars!

Enjoy!

A great video for those like me who have never been there.

That looks like fun. I've been across the bridge but not in my Jag, I'll have to fix that...

No excuse, you're close. You should do it with the top down! :-) I couldn't, my car was the Seafrost coupe that came in at the beginning. But you could hear me! That exhaust note in the video is from my car with the straight pipes. :-)

Where did you mount the camera? From the angle it looks like it was on the roof.

Very enjoyable, thanks for posting. I've seen the bridge from the air while traveling back in the mid-80s but I've never had the chance to drive across it....

Gregor did the recording and I don't remember the camera position for sure. But, I think it was at the top of the windscreen, with the top down on his convertible.

Hi Bill,

That’s a long time ago, but that trip brings back some good memories, it was great to meet everyone there.

Gregory mounted a special stand on his roof (he had a coupe), and I was actually driving his car, which was very (very) generous of him and added for me an extra joy as I of course didn’t have my car with me.

This was actually the third, and final, day of a tour up the California coast along the two lane Pacific Coast Highway.
Besides the Yanks, we had two Aussies (listen for the accents), a Brit and a Belgian, hence the title "International".
There was a total of about 18 people at the dinner at the Pebble Beach Country Club (Concours d'Elegance fame) the night before. Great time!

Hi Andre,
You're right, I'd forgotten. Gregor did have a coupe. I didn't recall you'd been driving, but it makes sense since he was filming.

Over the bridge I was driving with Dan, but the way up to there on the Highway 1 I was driving Gregor’s car, where some said it was a little spirited ;-)

Default Other participants out there?

Besides me and Avos, are there other forum members that were on that memorable tour?

If so, please check-in to the thread, I'd love to make contact again.

Luca,

I would somehow make it to a tour there!

My daughter-in-law is from Lezzano, a little south of Bellagio on the side of Lake Como. (She and my son live in San Diego.) We try to get back there periodically to visit family. I'm sure I could make a dual-purpose trip to Italy!

Your car is gorgeous! To me it is the pinnacle of Jaguar design--pure, clean, smooth, unadulterated--except for that one speck of dust on the roof.

I can imagine no vehicle that could be closer to the real life black jaguar cat.

Bill

I believe it was early May, 2007. Correct? My wife and I were on that trip (for the first two days). Great to see you on the forum.

I think it was early May. 2007 for sure.

Glad to hook back up with you and Nan(?)--Token Girl. :-)

I remember you both were on at least one other California Crusin' Tour. The one that started in San Diego for sure (and the meal at the Mexican Restaurant).

They were fun, maybe we could put together some more.
