This was mentioned earlier in the thread for issues with the SRS system...it's a bit hit & miss trying to locate a fault without a deep dive diagnostic programme, i dont think there are any low cost readers on the market that will read the SRS system or Prog keys or interrogate the ABS system...My code fault 17 had me running around circles for ages, so i purchased a good OBD interface & SDD for the laptop this gives you a PID code from the diagnostic code so in your case you could have 2290 (24) or 2290 (25) or 2290 (26) or even 2290 (27) the PID code points you at the comms fault so behind that is your issue...keep the thread up to date so we all can see your method in fault finding in case one of us gets the dreaded 16 !! Thank you Smithtrevor, appreciated.
I will add this to the comments for the new jag man as I understand he has a high-end diagnostic tool.
Hope to come back with good news after he's had a look, many thanks

Hi, beulahjag - plus all who have been following this thread

Thanks for contact appreciated, as I mentioned in the earlier thread the new 'Jag-man' was not available until the 28 of this month (today) and have only just got back (on the trains) from an all-day diagnostic from which he could not clear the fault so he still has the car and will be reporting tomorrow (I hope) with good news.

He seems to think its the seat rail guides are at fault and is going to swap the seat in the morning to see if this rectifies the issue, fingers crossed!

Hi beulahjag and all who are following,

You beat me to the follow-up, but no not really sadly.
Unfortunately, the donor seat was not the same as mine so were unable to swap, he and a colleague spent the day on several checks with and without the diagnostics and are 95% certain its the rail guides but want to do a chair swap to check first as the replacement guides are a time consuming replacement and potentially costly if not the fault. He has several jags through his workshop so is confident he will be able to call me before the end of this month with a suitable donor, fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I have had the rear shock absorber and front anti-roll bar bushes replaced plus a full service and she is running a treat so just the airbag issue to sort out now! Hope to update with a more positive result soon

Hi All
Thank you all for your interest appreciated.
Update; Following my independent Jaguar engineers advice and due to potential costs am waiting on a donar seat to check out the rail sensors before proceeding further and will let you all know if/when this is done. In the mean time I will look for any other comments you may have, many thanks

thanks for keeping us posted. I was keen to learn on your experience to help with mine (STR) but solved my problem with some donor parts (see thread below) from another seat.

My spare seat from a later STR model didn't help (didn't want to split it as im rebuilding that too) and the seat became un-recognizable to the car.

See my thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...solved-217222/

Hope that helps you.

Hi Beulahjag,
Thank for your interest and comments, unfortunately a suitable donar seat has not presented itself yet as my previous comments and like yours the one that I had been offered was not suitable so am still looking and hoping one will be available soon
Read your thread (loved all the comments about buttock sensor) and from the pics mine is similar (not the same) yes replaced the ( seat occupancy sensor) but not the seat module my Jag specialist said its the seat drive rail sensors hence waiting for a donar seat to test.

I know this is not the same fault as yours, not even the same side seat, but I had the 2:2 fault code repeatedly come up on my car. Id put up with it then for no reason it would go off. Well finally when it happened again I decided enough was enough and decided to fix it.

I have done a guide. It includes the easier way to take out the four seat bolts, sounds easy but you can put the bolts in the wrong holes etc. Have a read. It may help it may not but it could at least point you in the right direction including how to read the code etc. Anyway enough of the waffle have a read click me

Hi All,
As promised, Update of my Seat Occupancy Sensor Fault, I apologize it's taken a long time to get back;
Following the amazing comradery within this Jaguar forum and after the past year of tribulations where I enlisted help from Jaguar engineers, airbag specialists and independent Jaguar engineers I'm pleased to say ironically, a local Jaguar independent replaced the seat with an alternative seat (form a similar age/model Jaguar), located the fault to a module associated with the seat occupancy sensor that I had already replaced twice. Apparently, the module should have been supplied with the replacement occupancy sensor in the first place but as these parts were unobtainable form Jaguar and only resourced from Jaguar second-hand suppliers who in my case did not advise there was an associated part. So after all the diagnostics investigations and several engineers, I now have a fully operating diagnostics. Then the MoT engineer reported an 'advisory' on a tracking bush which similarly the bush was unobtainable separately so had to have a tracking assembly fitted. Now I'm 100% up and running but due to the Covid-Virus were on lock-down and stuck at home. Hope this is of some help to anybody else who has a similar issue, many thanks to all who contributed in each and every way, MANY THANKS APPRECIATED

Look here and you will see that if you can disable the bulb in the srs light they cannot fail it .

Hi Pistnbroke,
Thank you for your comments appreciated. As you will appreciate from the thread, this was an issue I had over a year ago and fortunately, I've managed to resolve the issue. For me, if I have a problem I will strive to find the root cause and try to remedy the issue. Whilst I appreciate disabling the lamp will get it through the MOT I still know there's an issue and for one have to sort it out but thank you for the insight, food for thought in the future.
I like your footnote, very true!

Default 1-7 fault code

I have a similar fault to the one you had. I have replaced the Weight sensing cushion and the sensing module it plugs into. Looking at the wiring diagram on your thread this then plugs into an occupancy sensing module and then into the restraints control module. Can I ask which part you replaced to cure the problem?
Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Sorry to learn your having a similar fault, and hope this helps you to resolve the issue.
Please refer to my resolution #52 Feb 2019
We found a donor seat from a similar age/model Jaguar and individually replaced each of the sensors from the donor to my seat until we found the faulty sensor. In my case, it was the module associated with the seat occupancy sensor, located on the underside of the front of the seat. The module should be supplied with the replacement occupancy sensor.
I found the module and seat occupancy sensor parts have been discontinued from Jaguar, I could only resource from Jaguar second-hand suppliers, good luck with your fault

Default occupancy sensor

Thank you so much for replying. I've had another look under my seat. Apart from the weight sensing module (mounted at the back of the seat, just in front of the rear passenger's feet), The only other module I can see is the seat module (LJE2160/xxx) mounted just under the front of the seat. Its about 6" x 4". Is this the one you replaced to cure the problem?
Kind regards
Jeff

I've roughly circled the two parts under the seat. I cant see any others.

Hi Jeff,
Yes, the seat module mounted just under the front of the seat about 6" x 4" is the one I had to replace to cure my problem?
But I emphasize, that I systematically replaced each of the seat sensors and modules under the passenger seat from the donor seat until I found the one that was at fault on my car, ok? I sincerely hope this works for you, good luck.
