Angry XKR 1999 Restricted Performance - RESOLVED

Hello,
Suddenly engine started to work uneven, check engine control started to blink and after a while stayed on. I felt loss of power and when put in second gear, car jumps like there was no fuel, when put back in drive, engine works reasonably but uneven.
Checked for error codes: P0300, P0301, P0305, P0327, P1230, P1316.
Fuel: 99octane Shell V-Power, 1/3 tank
Knock sensor recently installed new (both).
I ordered new spark plugs (NGK PFR6G-13E) and fuel filter. I'm gonna install them and see if it helps.
Is it possible that chain tensioner is failing and causes this?
Any advice is appreciated.
(sorry for bad English)
Regards,
Stan

Hi Stan,
Here's the DTC for P1230:

That relay is Fuel Pump 1 relay in the trunk fusebox:

Try swopping it with any of the other brown relays - e.g. the rear fog - see if that helps.

Probably nothing to do with the tensioners, but if there's any doubt, then get them checked/replaced as soon as possible (yesterday)

Changed spark plugs to PFR6G13E (old ones were PFR6Q), cylinder 5 spark plugs smelled gasoline. Also chaged order of ignition coils, moved 5th to 7th and 1st to 3rd. Afted that misfire error moved to cylinder 7 so replaced with new coil and now engine runs smoothly. Also swapped Brown relay in trunk.
Now car displays no more fault codes. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums Stan,

Good to hear the fault codes have gone. I've added "RESOLVED" to your thread title.

Graham

Talking Restricted Performance

I had a similar experience recently, so I thought I would post for other's reference. I got the "restricted performance" message but it would go away and the CEL would not stay on either. I read the codes and no codes were there. When the message came up the engine had a "dead miss" and ran rough, but it would go away after 10 seconds or so. I did find pending codes with my cheapo OBDII Ultragauge reader, and they were P0356, P0306, pointing to a bad coil. The problem only happened when the engine was warm, especially after heat soak. So I swapped the #6 and #8 coils and sure enough the codes (pending) went to cylinder #8. I got a replacement coil for about $30 and now all is well. Nice to have a straightforward fix for a change. I had thoughts that is was something worse and the intermittent nature was a little strange, but it ended up being something relatively ordinary.
