XKR 2001 starting problem
Hello,
Maybe someone has some thoughts on my issue.
My 2001 XKR has around 44,000 miles on the clock. Drove it earlier today to run a few errands. My first stop was 15 miles from home. Returned to the car after 5 minutes and it would not start. Fully charged battery/full tank of gas. It emitted very weak sounds of combustion and then stalled. Would not start.
No smell of gas, so I am guessing that it might be a fuel delivery issue??
This happened once before and I let the car sit overnight. It stated ok the following day.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jim

Your estimate that it is a fuel delivery issue is probably correct.
Next step is testing the fuel pressure at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. The R's with their 2 pump are famous for one failing and the car continues to run until the other one stutters.

Next time is does not start remove fuel pump relay number 1 and try to start several times. If it starts after 5 or 6 tries, it is now running on fuel pump number 2 the problem is likely fuel pump number 1.
