So let me summarise your “battery drain” saga.

When you got the US import car over a year ago, you had a 1.5A battery drain which you tracked down to the music amp. This amp fan rattled so you had to buy a multi pack of spare fans which you installed but this didn’t fix the problem.

Time passed and you had dismantled the centre console and toyed with the idea of an ignition switch relay on the radio head unit/amp circuit, but had other jobs to do first including a new XJ6 to fix.

Then you found a donor car, and managed to savage is radio head unit, and got round to the R&R on your US import.

So after over over a year, job is done. Now that is a “saga.”

I assume you're following this in such detail because of a personal interest? Otherwise I guess your first name is Sheldon...

For the first day of ownership of this beauty I feel it in the (almost perfect) shape it deserves. Last Friday I collected the two remainiung and refurbished Arden Wheels from the specialist nearby.
I'm waiting for the Adaptor Discs now for 4 weeks, but I have to be patient... shout be lucky that there's a decent guy who is able to produce adaptors from 1/2" UNF Bolts to 1/2" UNF Bolts with different center rings and diameters.
I guess in case all fits nicely, this will change the style of the car dramatically.... not sure I will like it, but I will give it a try.

In between I will perform the necessary tasks on the XJ.... my Wife loves the car as it is, but typically I notice things to be checked earlier than she does. So the front suspension definitely needs attention (but not in this thread).

My low-cost-garage press arrived!! And I had to test it immediately with the old front shock bushings :-)

That sure would have come in handy to me last week.... How much did it cost you?

 

I payed less than 120$ ... and shipping was already included. As I mentioned in another thread, the press came in two packages delivered on two different days. The only guidance was a picture of the completely assembled press.
In between I assume this is a safety measure. .... If you are too dumb getting it assembled, it automatically prevents you operating it and mess things up.

 

....last Saturday finally the ordered and tailor made adaptor discs arrived. I was a bit afraid that I took wrong measurements, but luckily they fit perfect!





Of course I had to test them immediately and check how it would look like....



Even the position of the Wheel inside the arch seems optimal, there's not enough room when going over a bump. I have to look where the tyre gets contact to the wheelarch liner....

Owning and keeping a Jaguar on street does either involve a huge bank account or some natural immunity against grease and oil. :-)
Ich don't have a huge bank account.

I'm based in Germany close to Düsseldorf... it's the mid western part of the country.

This weekend I disassembeld (again) all four brakes, because they were making an awful squeaking noise when braking in front of stop lights. Now the backsides and side flanges of the pads ave been mounted with copper grease.
Also the pins and the springs have been cleaned and reinstalled with copper grease. Hope that this helps.

As mentioned before, the wheel arch liners were never meant to give room for 21" wheels, but I identified that only a few milimeter were missing.
With a hot air gun I made the plastic liners flexible and gave then a sightly different shape. After cooling down while keepig them in the new shape there should be enough space now. Also I measured the GPS speed and compared it to the given speed on the speedo.... luckily the km/h scale is small and there's no remakable difference between both readings.

I guess I'm ready now for getting approval from our local technical inspection...
