BINGO, WHAT HE SAID. You may want your shop to do it so it is cheaper, ha ha ha ha

"If you're particular about cleanliness and appearance the project will likely snowball into other things. Hoses that need replaced, thermostat, maybe the intercooler pump, new coolant for sure.

The intercoolers will be off, so you might as well clean and paint them too. It just goes on and on."

Already replaced the octopus hose, thermostat, full load breather hose, air intake w/bellows pipe in the last month, why not keep going ! It sounds like everybody thinks it's a fair price so I'll probably let the shop complete the labor. But after Gus's questions and some research I'm worried they might have misdiagnosed it...See:

Go to page 13 on the attached link and look at the possible causes. Several are common to both sides but a few I feel are common to an “A” bank code. A fuel injector, O2 sensor and an exhaust leak. Not having my hands on it and you having only the P0171 I would get a second opinion or a second look just to be sure. It could also be that your mechanic may have additional information that we are not privy to.

Looking at your history I also see that you had problems with reading codes from the OBDII port has that been resolved?

1. Engine misfire: I don't think it's misfiring, mechanic said it wasn't. It seems like it has a week start and it idles rough but not the same feeling you get when it's misfiring.
2. Air intake leak between MAFS and throttle: I replaced the air intake tube from the TB to MAFS due to cracked bellows. I broke the connector on the breather hose while doing that so I replaced it as well. I don't think this is the issue.
8. Exhaust leak (before catalyst): Mechanic said there was an exhaust leak but I don't think he had located it yet. Maybe this is this only issue?
9. ECM receiving incorrect signal from one or more of the following components: ECTS, MAFS, IATS, TPS: I cleaned the MAFS, do you think I should try replacing it?

Not sure about any of these possible causes:
3. Fuel filter, system blockage
4. Fuel injector blockage
5. Fuel pressure regulator failure (low fuel pressure)
6. Low fuel pump output
7. HO2S harness wiring condition fault

Yes, thanks to Steve and your recommendation to Autoecu the OBDII problem was solved, I can finally read her again to fix all her problems! I thought I emailed you and let you know.... maybe it didn't go through.
