XKR Issue after service at dealer.

XKR Issue after service at dealer.
I posted this earlier in the xk section but realize that perhaps I should post it in this section.
A question for techs or anyone who may have experienced the issue I'm having with my 2004 XKR.
Last week I got a warning message saying "check rear lights" and "cruise control unavailable". I had read on this forum that it was probably the brake light switch so I brought it in to my dealer. It was indeed the switch and it was replaced. I also had the routine 50K (jag has 37K on her now) service done.
When I left with the car later that day it almost felt like the E brake was on but it wasn't. I then noticed that it stayed in first gear until over 5000 rpm before it would shift and then it would be fine until I stopped and accelerated again. I know, I should have returned to the dealer right away but I didn't.
I called the service manager and he suggested I disconnect the battery and then reconnect it after a few minutes to reset everything. Didn't help. It shifts fine in the sequential mode but not when I put in in "D" in the normal mode. The "S" button doesn't make a difference either.
I'm going back on Monday and they'll examine it and read any codes but right now I'm stumped.
Any ideas what went wrong?
Thanks all!

Update:
After reading Jagtec1's recommendation I checked and noticed the brake lights were on all the time. Took it to the dealer this morning and they reinstalled the brake light switch and all is well. They also filled the fuel tank at no charge as a courtesy for my inconvenience.
Thanks again, Jagtec1.
