Default XKR Quirks

Mates:

Just purchased a 2006 XKR convertible with 16K miles. Looks great, runs great.

Query, by 2006, had Jaguar worked out the issues with the timing chain tensioners and the convertible top "green shower" feature?

Also, yesterday during a 50 mile cruise, the low coolant warning light came on and off a couple of times, without any temperature gauge deviation from normal range. Any thoughts on this issue?

Thanks in advance for your collective assistance.!

Have you taken the cap off of the expansion tank to see if the fluid actually low, or if the sensor is sticking ?

Don't trust the temp gauge. Don't let it overheat. Don't mix orange and green coolant. The green shower was an issue on the later model cars too. I had my hydraulics all replaced by Marvin. Just my .02.

Congratulations! I had the same coolant issue - ended up replacing the expansion tank as it was super brittle (sits right next to the very warm engine) and the new tank includes a new sensor. Be careful when replacing the hose clips as they can weaken and cause a leak under pressure (ask me how I know) which will be very confusing as you’ll see the “low coolant” alert again. These cars also seem sensitive to the coolant mix so don’t just top up with distilled water. Good luck and enjoy!
