XKR replacement engine number?
Glad to know that even though it’s a replacement, it still matches the MY1999 like it should.
Not having been able to see a number anywhere, I’m guessing my only chance is to pop one of the covers or take the risk on the very low chance they still fit plastic tensioners in 2005. I’ll keep you posted!

The # should be where it is shown in post 22, but even on mine which doesn't have as much obstruction, it's not at all easy to see.
Probably fine when new, exposed and in good light - none of which now apply in practice
I wonder if you could wiggle the end of one of those cheap flexible borescopes into the space?

Just realized that I posted the VIN from another car I had been looking at. The correct one is 042339, but it’s still from the AJ26 era though.
The good news is that I can finally say I’m the proud owner of a ‘00 XKR
I’ll keep you guys posted on the issues mentioned above as soon as I get to know about them a little more.
