Hi, my XKR has been off the road for 4 years, under cover, due to illness. I took her out a few months back, all was find till I gave her some power to stretch her legs. She started to sound like a tank. On getting home and looking under. Both cats where red hot. I have been told this could be because of collapsed silencers. I was told if your had is not pushed away from the tail pipes on revving the engine, you definitely have a collapse somewhere. Also told it the cats are gone, there but white bits coming out of the tail pipes. Has anyone had this problem and can help. I’ve got her *** up, I know she has a sport exhaust, fitted by zeemax when the previous owner has the full wide body kit fitted and custom interior. I have no idea what exhaust system it is. There rear pipes still go over the axel. I don’t want to be pulling off the exhausts ( I’m paralysed from waist down, so you can imagine getting under her and back out is different, have no problem doing it, just be a pointless effort if the exhaust is not the problem) any help be greatly thank you

she sounds fine on tick over, it’s when you put her under load when driving, sounds like something blowing but not like pebbles as you say.
thank you again
Not sure on the clogged silencers as a cause. However, if the cats are running so hot, one possibility is lots of raw fuel being dumped into the exhaust from ignition/injector issues.
Before you start crawling under there or buying any parts, check for any DTCs being thrown and report back here. Just the raw codes, not the code reader's interpretation of them.
