Default Image Dynamics - For Jaguar Owners

My employer recently picked up the Image Dynamics line of car audio equipment. If you aren't familiar with Image Dynamics, the equipment (subwoofers, speakers and amps) that they produce are top-notch and have exceptional sound quality with no sacrifice on output. This is not your typical bass-head car stereo stuff. This is serious gear, aimed at the audiophile and those who enjoy their music the way it should sound. I just installed a pair of IDQ12s with a SQ1200.1D amp and they sound awesome in my XKR...very articulate!

Anyway, I've gotten approval from the higher-ups to offer a very generous discount to fellow Jag owners! For example: 25% off all Image Dynamics Subwoofers, exclusively for Jaguar Forum members. PM me if you are interested (and please don't share this information anywhere else on the web).

*Moderators, please delete if not allowed, but know that I'm not a vendor...merely a Jaguar owner that would like to pass on a deal to our community as this forum has helped me royally since I've taken ownership of my XKR. This is a way for me to give back and show my gratitude.

I'd like to add that I recently installed a pair of IDQ 12 D2 v4 subwoofers in my XKR and the results are nothing short of amazing. The bass is very articulate, tight and detailed without missing a note or beat. I've heard MANY subs in my 15+ years in the audio industry (audio went from hobby to habit about 10 year ago) and these are at the very top of the list, regardless of price. I would put them against subs that cost 2-3x the amount. Sure I've heard louder, but very rare to find bass with such hi fidelity. My favorite sub for years has been the JL W6v2 and this IQQv4 may have just stolen the number one position. My install is a rear seat delete, with a temporary enclosure (for now). I'll post pictures of the final install as a built in unit, deeming my XKR a true 2-seater (anyone else done this?). It just seemed logical since the fuel tank is in the trunk and the rear seat is practically useless anyway.

I also heard the top of the line IDMAX 15 v4 in a Merc CLK430 (infinite baffle install) and it had similar sound characteristic of the IDQ with a higher level of output and notably more authority on the lowest of low frequencies. If I had the space I might consider the IDMAX15. Very tight, fast and accurate...not boomy at all, like some think a 15" subwoofer would sound.

Source: Eclipse CD7200MKii (deadhead unit...love it!)
Front Speakers: Boston Acoustic Pro60 SE 6.5" 2-way components (full active)
Subs: Image Dynamics IDQ12 v4
Speaker amp: JL 450/4 - 450w RMS to front stage (150w x2 mids + 75w x2 tweets)
Sub Amp: Was running a JL 1000/1, now an Image Dynamics SQ1200.1D (1200w RMS). I'll be throwing the JL back in to compare the difference...because I LOVE my JL amp. Its a workhorse and has never let me down. Can't beat 1000w at 1.5-4ohms!

Rear seat delete, down-firing sub enclosure, sealed 1.25 per driver. May try ported next spring just to see how it sounds, though I've always been a fan of the sealed sound.

Fully sound deadened (CLD & MLV) doors, rear side panels, roof, rear deck, back seat pan

Amp rack in spare tire well. Also added a Kitetik HC600 battery for some extra oomph. Spare tire is still accessible (though inconvenient to remove).

How about yourself?

I'm completely stock. I was wanting to do something that uses a remote touch screen in place of the stock navigation unit. Probably want to retain rear seat. Just not sure where to start really

Getting rid of the back seat isn't mandatory. Its something I've always wanted to try and the jag was a good candidate.

Where did you get the 200 amp alternator?

I did a post about it last year. I found a vendor on ebay and he made one for me. Being Ford was involved with Jaguar around the time of our cars the alternator probably found its way into many vehicles. Ill look for the post and pass on the info. May have been eagle auto electric as I had used them on many of my ford cars over the years, Alternator is still going strong. I had thought about back seat as well but just kind of want to keep it as is for now. I don't care for the looks of aftermarket decks but really want to hop into the 21st century with the car. Just unsure which pathway to go

That would be great. I'd like to upgrade my alternator and 200 amps is just about perfect.

Any advise on how to add a sub-stage to 2008 XJ8 with Nav?

Assuming you have a stock subwoofer, you can tap in to the leads using a line out converter, like an AudioControl LC2I. This will convert your high level speaker signal into an RCA signal that you run to your amp. I'm using one in my wife's car and it works very well. The LC2i also has a full range channel to provide a signal to a pair of speakers, so if at any point you decide to amp your front speakers as well, the signal is there.

From there you can either add a sub enclusore or replace the factory sub with something of a similar size. I imagine something like an IDQ8 would work well. If space is an issue, power it off a Image Dynamic MQ150.1 which is only 4"x7" and plenty of power.

I don't have the premium audio system or any sub that I know of. Where is the stock subwoofer normally located?

I missed that last post. Sorry. The stock sub in the XKR (X100) is in the rear deck. I'm not sure about the XJ8. You don't need a stock subwoofer though...just makes things a bit more convenient. You can just as easily tie into the leads of your rear speakers...just need a slightly longer section of speaker wire.

We sold a TON of Image Dynamics subs and speakers last week for 20% off as a "Cyber Week" sale. Jaguar Forum members get an even better deal at 25% off (most speakers) EVERY DAY! I've only had 2 members take advantage of it so far but the offer is still on the table for the rest of you guys! Perfect time for a Christmas Gift!
