Default How does the interior lighting turn on.

Bought a used 2016 base a few months ago. I didn't realize the center handle had LEDs on the underside, or there were lighting on the door interior until I saw some lighting pictures.

Is the JAGUAR name on the door step lighted too?
If so, how do these lights turn on?

The door step illumination is an option I believe, and not standard.

I think they come on when the exterior lights are on. There's an obscure setting in the nav system called 'stealth' that either dims them or turns them off completely, don't recall which. Check to see if that's turned on.

Stealth mode is off, tried different exterior light settings. Still nothing.

I don't recall if the dimmer affects interior lights. If not that, then perhaps a fuse?

In the S and R models, when you activate dynamic mode, the interior and dash lighting turns red, which is kind of cool. Don't know if the base does this - the original base didn't have dynamic mode, but I think they added that in 2015 or 2016.

The dimmer makes the screen dimmer. I want to check the fuses. Is there a fuse diagram I can reference?

Your manual lists the various fuse boxes and what each fuse does.

Also, check out this thread, particularly the last post, about the dimmer.

A Base Coupe built in August 2014 does that.

Right. My booklet says the base model in the first model year (2013 in UK, 2014 in US) didn't have dynamic mode, but I've lost track if it was there for the 1st model year, or from the 2nd year on...

In the "extra settings" menu tab you can control the interior lighting color and also brightness. Maybe yours is turned all the way down? The lights really are only visible at night.

I believe you might be in the same boat as me. I was informed by my seller that certain base specs do not include the centre console and door handle lighting. Quite bummed about this... Currently trying to find out whether it is possible to actually fit working LEDs onto it. Appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this.

If the LEDs are there (which I believe they are in all F-Types) then it's just a case of enabling then using the dealers diagnostic tool.

However a dealer won't be allowed to do this, you need someone with that tool who isn't a dealer and knows how to make these changes to the vehicle configuration, someone like me...

I had been told by the dealer that the LEDs were not found in my car.

If that is the case, my main concern is whether they would be able to fit on any spare LEDs they might have, or would those two locations be missing all the required wiring as well..

I went to the dealer Monday to have annual maintenance and the lighting issue discussed.

The LEDs are present in their appropriate places, when they looked up my VIN it did have ambient phosphor blue interior lighting. They believed it to be an issue so they gave me a loner for the time being. They said they have not encountered this before.

Today they called and said they say the ambient lights are different called ambiance something and that I may not have the feature.

I'm not really buying what they are telling me. I believe the base premium should have working non-adjustable phosphor blue ambient lights in the doors above the window controls and on the center J-handle. I can't find any resource anywhere that they sell this car with those LEDs in place but they don't work. The loner XE base has LED slots, but no LEDs in them.

Going to pick my car up again tomorrow morning and see if they can explain better why it can't be fixed.

Send a PM to CRC@Jaguar here - they are very helpful and will help you decode the VIN to find out what it *should* have...

Would like to update that I've finally got the ambient lighting after confirming on Topix that it should've been there for my car. Problem it wasn't there in the first place - ambient lighting wiring wasn't connected.

Can you post the details or check your PM. I sent you a message ? I have a base too and I have the same concern as well!

I've replied your PM with the details. Would also like to add that it was the ground wire which was disconnected in my case according to the service adviser.

Update - Followed up with corporate and sent it to another dealer last week. Got car back today with the issue fixed. They determined it was a faulty module and replaced it.

Glad it's finally fixed, but still concerned why my original dealer dismissed this as a non-issue.
