Default 2005 STR problem

Hey jaguar fans!

Sadly my 2005 Stype-R is sick and was wondering if anybody could help me out. The engine starts but the screen on the dashboard flashes "engine fault" I push the gas pedal and it does nothing. I just washed it yesterday and she ran great with no problems.
Best regards,
Michael

Could be but may well not be coincidence.

Without that I'd suggest the battery may be failing or flattish. At least check its voltage, engine off, after standing overnight.

What sort of wash? Might water have got into the engine bay or the trunk - wet in the trunk upsets vital things as does water in many places in the engine bay or dripping onto the PCM (under the windshield glass).

Thanks for the quick reply, I will take a look at the battery first thing when I get home. And it was just a quick car wash out in the driveway. The jag never gets dirty so I thought I would just hose it off quickly.

I forgot to say the car is also telling me " cruise not available"

UPDATE:

I have a battery charging right now, it was running low on juice. After disconnecting the battery i waited 10-15 minutes and plugged it back in, and all the warnings went away and the gas pedal worked again. I think its because i don't drive the car enough, only about 8 miles a week...

That's the first sign of terminal battery failure. Change it now.

Just the battery, or the wires going to it?

. . . . and given infrequent use, invest in one of the new "smart" chargers that you can leave permanently connected . . . see it all in Battery 101 for S-Types and relevant regional Supplement.

Best wishes,
Ken
