Question Bad Sensor

My 2004 3.0 X-Type is diagnosed with a bad fuel sensor. It's been impossible to locate what I need from any auto parts store. I finally found one in a junk yard and had it installed but the same issue occurs "engine sputters when I first take off but stops when it goes into higher gears".
I could sure use some advice....?

Welcome to the forum Clay,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Center to X-Type forum. The Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum and not for technical questions. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Do you have the error codes or are you able to get the codes read?

Those will help pinpoint it

Need more information here. What do you mean by fuel sensor? Is Check Engine light on? If so then you need to know what code(s) tripped it. Your local auto parts store will read the OBD codes for you free. How many miles on your car, and when's last time the fuel filter was changed?

When you say "thats what the code says" are you reading the information from the X-400 DTC code list? Or is that what the code reader gave you for a definition?
In order to help we would need the actual code number. The generics from code readers is most cases don't relate to Jaguar DTC Codes. Please post the actual code number and we will give it a whirl.

Your posting doesn't say where you are from but if USA most auto parts stores will read the codes for free. Just write down the numbers they get off the reader.

One thing I would give from my .02 cent is you should buy from the junk-yard what you can't test, especially the sensors of any kind. I bought that fuel rail pressure sensor from "Parts Geek", their pricing decently, quick shipping.
