1988 xjs v12 question
I hope im putting this in the correct area. 1988 jaguar xjs v12 located in south Carolina left hand drive. There is a noise that i hear and it sounds like the sound of a dry propshaft. Spinning. The sound goes away when raining or not in drive. In neutral the wonderful sound of the v12 is all i hear but brake pedal pressed and shifted into drive the dry churning starts again......any ideas of a fix ?????? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. .

Agree withg Doug, and the list can be long.
I read your post a few times to get my brain around it.
"Press the brake pedal and select Drive and the noise starts". So, I am assuming the car is standing still???.
If that is the case, I suspect the torque convertor, OR, the trans is low on fluid, OR, both.
If the car is moving, then anything that rotates to achieve that movement is suspect. Most common is the lack of grease in the 4 fittings that make up the joints of the 2 halfshafts, and/or, the dumb tin covers that prevent access to those fittings are scraping, which is well documented.
