How come that Alibaba listing says "Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, Oil Pressure Sensor" when the part number is for a Throttle Position Sensor?

Has anyone contacted them and queried this?

Also, minimum order 200pcs....

Whenever you have to have 200 min, contact them and ask for a "sample unit" it might be free or they might charge you. Thats all you have to do.Ive done other stuff like that before on that site, but have not contacted them since my tps and tb are brand new.

2.Because on other vehicles, MAP codes may come up, and that function is a function of the TPS.

3.Gary Chen Wenzhou Credit Parts Co., Ltd is the guy to contacton there , they have free messaging as well.

Also to update you on the previous tps, the guy on ebay has 100% positive feedback

and the three TPS units he sold to customers, said they just bolted it on,adjusted it a little and the Jaguar was fixed.

No special tools or scanners needed.

Hope that helped.

Even at minimum ordering, units are $2-20 each, thats $400-$4000.

If we could even get 20 members to buy, it would cost each member $1-$200,id still contact the seller, he is available on chat, and paypal has a buyer protection program as well.

Also Onsite operations checked and legal status confirmed on the site, so no worries ABOUT BEING SCAMMED.

Alibaba Manufacturer Directory - Suppliers, Manufacturers, Exporters & Importers

1.sample message example, that I used previously, also

2. https://www.facebook.com/CreditParts.Ltd THERE FACEBOOK PAGE

3.. there is a new condition unit on ebay for sale ,but they are not a supplier.

I'm one of the three that bought that eBay TPS. I'm in the middle of installing it now. It looks and feels to be of OK quality, not Denso but it will suffice, especially since the only other real option is to buy a new throttle body. I have not left any eBay feedback yet.

Although I am not a factory trained tech I am a very, very capable VW & Audi guy. There isn't anything I can't accomplish when it comes to one of those cars, be it electrical or mechanical. The only thing I don't have much experience with is the internals of automatic transmissions but with a good service manual and a handful of the proper tools I'm sure I could get it done. I've had several turbo'd VR6s that I did all the work to, I've done countless A2 VR6 swaps, I had a 500 horse B5 S4 back when very few people had 500 horse B5s, I've played with a few SR20DET Nissans and an RB swapped S14, I even have 2 Honda Aquatrax that are probably faster than they need to be. This damn TPS on my girlfriend's 2005 S-Type R is one of the few problems that has almost stumped me. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

It looks like we have a winner so far! I put it back together, the car started right up and idled just like it should. I don't know if I got lucky but I didn't have to adjust the TPS. I drove the car around probably 30 miles or so with no limp mode and no CEL.

I'll update again in a few days.

Nice, now you can be the next guy to leave a positive feedback.

I might just buy one as a spare and keep around, you never know, but beats 2 grand for a new throttle body.

How is it looking under obd-ii?

Is the ECU having to offset values?

Hi CorradoKid,
My 2005 Jaguar S type R is sitting in shop after the infamous limp home mode. Probably getting a quote of throttle body replacement this afternoon. How is the ebay replacement TPS doing? No problems?

What year is your STR?

Really appreciate your response.

Keen for any updates on this as well. I have a 2000 XJR with a broken clip on the TPS, and it keeps going into limp home mode whenever you get off throttle.

Initially I believed it was purely due to corrosion in the pins, combined with the broken clip not holding the plug tight (which in the past was solved by wrapping a cable tie around the plug), but from reading this, I think there may be an issue with one of the tracks, and the +1v difference between them when closed

Either way, I'd love to get it fixed! Even buying a new TB is getting difficult, and a rebuild is going to cost ~US$800 by the time I deal with shipping and labour

I don't own an X308 or X100, but at that price even i'm tempted to buy one "just in case"

Hey guys, just an update on my TPS error...

I bought a rebuilt unit from ASI (autoecu.com), and then had it bored out by Maxbore while I was at it.
I got the new unit installed by my local Jaguar dealer, and it wouldn't work. They had no idea why, and said they suspected it was faulty.

I got them to swap the old unit back in, and decided to have a look at it myself. With the help of this thread, and friend and I checked the pin resistances on the new throttle body and compared them to the new one.
The new throttle body came from ASI fully adjusted counterclockwise, which gave us low readings, especially between pins 1 and 3. We loosened the TPS screws, rotated it until the values were close to what the old unit was showing (which was very close to the values posted here), reinstalled the throttle body, and it works PERFECTLY!

This thread was a huge help! Couldn't have done it without you guys

I have had the same problem. Checked the tcm and ecu- Dry as a bone. Cleaned the throttle body and it helped a little. Tried to get the tps off and couldnt get the bottom bolt out with pliers. So I bolted everything back up and took to ebay. I must have advanced the tps when I put it back together. The engine/gearbox fault stopped happening but the shifting changed and so did the idle. Bought an eBay tps and a TS pentalobe bit set. I think its a ts18 or 20 for those security bolts. Changed out the tps. I left the bolts loose and started the car. By adjusting the tps counter clockwise I could actually manipulate the system into trigger triggering the limp mode while idling in my garage. I adjusted it back and took it for a test drive. The incorrect shift points were still there and the car would idle around the neighborhood at 25mph. Pulled back in and adjusted it a bit more clockwise. The idle settled in at about 650-675 rpm. Took it for a ride and it was just like new. I think it is more to do with the tps spring than anything. There was a noticeable difference while fingering the old one compared to the new. Thank you gentlemen. This was my first bout with drive-by-wire. Next project will be the driveshaft and carrier bearing.

Default TPS ? Xj8 Idling up and down while driving

What are the symptoms of a bad TPS? My 04 XJ8 with 112,300 miles idles up and down only when driving and I'm wondering if is the TPS, I saw a couple on sale in EBay, $39.99 each used, and I'm thinking in get it but I'm not sure if that is the problem, no codes showing.

18 Nov 2011: second instance of P0121 at 80332 miles
22 Nov 2011: third, fourth & fifth instances of P0121 at 80512, 80611 and 80696 miles
23 Nov 2011: changed Throttle Body - no further trouble

At each failure, the MIL illuminated. Clearing the codes enabled the vehicle to be started after the first four instances of P0121 until the fifth occurence when it was terminal.

Failure was without warning the first time but after only another 433 miles the TPS was toast.

Does it appear to have been arcing that's broken down the first 'bad' track or some kind of physical failure of the material?

Graham

You are in the wrong area. This is for XK8 and you have a 04 XJ8 and the codes are not the same.

What are all the symptoms you are experiencing? The idle is wondering?

I would suggest that you plug in your OBDII code reader and see if you can capture the codes. To set a code in the car it must take place 2 times in a given period of time but the code reader will most of the time log a temporary code. Give it a try and see what comes up. You may also want to get readings on your O2 sensors.

Default I have a dead tps

How do I remove the tps? 2000 jaguar XK8

Just to clarify the pic the white carrier has two concentric tracks deposited on it and the rotating part has two sets of twin wipers than short the tracks together.
I cleaned the tracks + wipers to no avail - there is clear physical damage.
Thanks, BTW, for sending it.
What we want now is someone with a dead TPS prepared to try a non-contact sensor.
