1993 Land Rover Defender 90 Diesel Pickup: Modern Classic?
It isn’t every day that you see a Land Rover pickup. Let alone one as stellar as this beauty.
In terms of collectible vehicles, those built in the ’90s are still not really considered that old. But in reality, we’re talking about stuff built up to 30 years ago at this point. So while it might seem silly that this stellar 1993 Land Rover Defender 90 pickup has received a full panel-off restoration, perhaps it’s really not. Perhaps the nicely sorted ride, headed across the block at Classic Car Auctions’ sale on May 25, is what we like to call a modern classic.
If nothing else, it certainly isn’t every day that you see one of these Land Rover pickups. The SUV version of the Defender was obviously much more popular at this time in history. But that also means that the pickups were produced in far less numbers as well. On the other hand, that rarity doesn’t appear to have affected value that much. This particular one only carries an auction estimate of around $9,000-$13,000 U.S. dollars.
For that small outlay of cash, you’re getting quite a bit of substance. This Land Rover has been refinished with a high quality paint job, new wheels and tires, and upgraded lighting. The interior is quite plush as well, providing comfort while you’re tackling the toughest of trails. The only real ding on this beauty is the fact that it has 214,971 miles on the odometer. But given that it’s a diesel, that’s really not much of a concern.
Especially not for a vehicle that can do just about anything well, save for carry more than one passenger. Plus, it’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll be the only person in your town who owns one. And that alone has us coveting this luscious Land Rover perhaps a little more than we should.
