Time to get the E-PACE nice and muddy.

Our journey in Corsica began in the hillside. A more gorgeous French farmland likely does not exist, and recent rains made the muddy country lanes a great starting point for testing the E-PACE. However, what started as muddy, grassy country lanes quickly devolved into deeply rutted trails. What other secrets was this farmland hiding?

How about having to ford a river to get to our next destination? Yup, that’s me behind the wheel in the picture above. With the help of a spotter (and a photographer), the E-PACE plowed through the deepness as unperturbed as could be.

Then came the rocks.

After trudging through the mud, which was, admittedly, a very comfortable ride in the E-PACE, it was time to really see what the active driveline could do. Despite being on regular road tires, and getting the little Jag quite twisted up, the E-PACE never broke a sweat. Seriously. It’s no Land Rover, but this $50,000 Jag has no qualms rolling up it’s sleeves and getting down and dirty. The E-PACE shares its underpinnings with the Range Rover Evoque, and it feels it. Its off-road prowess certainly is Land Rover-like.

However, our handsome Borasco Gray example did end up losing a piece of its lower valence during our wheeling adventure. Apparently, the car behind us saw it and grabbed it. Being a small plastic bit, no harm no foul, and it popped right back into place.
