Jaguar XJR-15: Most Underrated Supercar of the ’90s

Jaguar XJR-15

Harsh vibrations, excessive noise, a barely adequate air-conditioning system, entry that requires a contortionist act, and a multi-step starting process. If it sounds like the XJR-15 stretches the very definition of a street car, that’s because it does. And even though output is “only” 450 hp, a 2,300 pound curb weight means the 27-year old Jag can still do 0-60 in only 3.3 seconds.

So why is the XJR-15 so underappreciated? Maybe because it’s so rare. Maybe because its racing success didn’t occur in the more notable racing series. But we can’t imagine anything built during this time period that provides quite the experience this special Jag does. And in our minds, that makes it the most underrated car of its time.
