The V12 badge on the back of this Jaguar XJS is only off by a count of 2.

Madmen often have ways with metal. Sometimes it’s questionable, and sometimes it’s so gosh darn awesome that we simply have to sit back in amazement. That second scenario is exactly what’s going on here, because someone’s decided to shove a Dodge Viper V10 into an XJS convertible.

Amazingly, from the outside, you’d never know. Restraint was at least one aspect of the builder here and we admire that. All exterior body lines have remained exactly original, and the same can be said for the interior. Even the gauges are original to the XJS.

There are some visual differences from stock. The wheels and tires are aftermarket, and understandably wider to handle the extra horsepower. Suspension upgrades have been made but no other information is available.

Plucked from a first generation Viper, this engine “reportedly” has over 500 horsepower. Dodge’s most powerful engines from that series topped out at 460 horsepower, but that’s a forgivable amount. Mounted to that engine is the Viper’s 6-speed manual transmission. Both are said to have been professionally installed.

Now here’s the next impressive part. This car sold for $29,500. Someone out there is enjoying this impressive Viper powered machine, and our bet their most favorite thing to do is use this super sleeper as intended.
