.....the radio volume knob in my XK8 (2005) has decided to 'rotate freely' i.e. it turns normally, but there's no 'engagement' of the volume control so it won't adjust the volume at all?!!

I've tried removing the knob to see if it is not engaging, but all seems ok.... the steering wheel controls still work so not a huge problem.... but I'd really like to 'fix' the radio volume control knob too....


anyone seen a similar problem.... and any suggested solution?

 

I have the exact same issue, it's a bit of a pain because none of the audio functions can be adjusted. Anyone have any ideas?

I came across this video by accident:
My S-Type volume has been erratic for quite a while. He’s working on a Mercedes radio in the video but it was in his Jaguar video collection so I gave it a try and it works! My volume knob is back to normal. Just pry off the volume control knob and spray quick drying electric cleaner at the base of the shaft and spin it around.
