For those that need stereo/security work done:
As an option for people here, if your in the U.S. or Canada, and you need a reliable installer for audio/security related things for your Jag, and you just dont feel comfortable with anyone working on it, just PM a general location of your area, and i will touch base with a core group of people that i know. I realize that its hard to just trust anyone with your cars, and i for one am the same way. Just putting the option out there for people who may need help. I am in the Philadelphia area and can handle anything you may want done. If i dont know off the top of my head, i can and will find out the info needed. If it simple speaker swaps, to full on custom work, i know or have contact with someone that can help you out.
Also know if you need tracking systems that integrate with your cellular phone, i did alot of the testing and released this at SEMA in 2007. www.c3autopageusa.com

I have never posted on a forum, Jaguar or otherwise, but have a big problem with my sound system. I recently purchased a 2006 X-type VDP sedan (107,000 miles). I love my car, but the CD player does not work and I can't get a clear answer about how to fix or replace it. It will not accept/eject/play any CDs, although it did play one the day I bought the car.
I've been told many contradictory solutions, from having to replace all speakers and the entire system, to just unplugging/over-riding the optical drive and replace with an aftermarket system.
I want to play CDs and plug in an iPod, but can't find anyone who can do this for less than $1500!
I am not tech savvy, so forgive me if I've used inadequate language to describe my problem. If I am posting this in the wrong place, kindly direct me to appropriate spot. Thank you.

Hi Jason, is there a way of programing the basic stereo head of an x-type (without visiting the dealers) to receive a cd changer, mine didnt originally come with a cd changer, but i have all the right accessories and cables, will be connecting it this wkend. My head unit is the non sat nav version.
Any help will be appreciated.
