Default NSW&ACT ... October Meet & Greet ... your thoughts please

To all members here ... by now you will have heard from Richard and/or Cameron that the Sydney weather has again caused the cancellation of the All British Car Day at the Kings School. This is rotten news both for organisers, exhibitors and the public.

It is possible that certain aspects of the Jaguar section (eg Concours d'Elegance) may go ahead ... watch that thread for news.

Purpose of this thread is to gauge interest in a JaguarForums Meet & Greet in (say) the Spring sunshine of mid October? Perhaps a general "pull over, hello" on the start of the Newcastle Freeway, followed by a leisurely drive up to around Pokolbin, having lunch surrounded by the vines of the Hunter Valley? Maybe, you would prefer a more modest drive up to Kurrajong or Mt Wilson in the Blue Mountains? Should we open out the invitation to JDCA and/or others?

As you can see, we need your help to gauge interest, preferred location and attendance. Please add your post to this thread noting ...
  • preferred date(s) in October;
  • preferred location/format;
  • if attending, car you will be driving;
  • passengers? alone? family picnic or pub/restaurant lunch?
Keep it brief, but keep watching as replies come in ...

Best wishes,
Ken

Yep, the weather has killed off the All British Day...

But the JDCA Concours goes on! https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ornsby-126242/

As far as meetups in NSW/ACT in the coming month or so, a few events are coming up which might be of interest to join, or will clash with anything we put together.

Oct. 5th - 5th Annual Motoring Expo at the Australian Motorlife Museum, Wollongong

Oct. 18th/19th - Classic Ralley Series, Alpine Ralley Blue Mountains, Orange, Lithgow

Oct. 25th/26th - Wakefield Park NSW (near Goulbourn) TSOA SuperSprint and Driver Training Day

I'm not sure if there is any motoring related events on the weekend of the 11th/12th of October.

I will quite possibly be overseas for 2-3 weeks in October anyhow, so we'll have to see how it goes...

Hey that's cool Cambo ... and a good "heads up" of upcoming events. November could be a smarter choice, but generally, December is a "no go" by now for many.

Early days ... putting out feelers and looking for feedback. Another option I had in mind (nut overlooked when posting) was a get together at a Jaguar specialists workshops ... I guess most logically in Sydney. North Shore location? Dependent on interest, would someone help take on planning locally?

I'm looking to plan similar here in Coffs or Port Macquarie, but smaller Jaguar numbers (say 5-6 out of a potential dozen or so) means opening it out to "All British". I reckon I have a local firm willing to sponsor a get together (less sure about Port). I intend to liaise with the Jaguar Drivers Club Hunter Valley about joining forces. Anyone in central, northern, or coastal NSW up for that one?

If so, YELL! Best wishes,

Ken

If we are looking at a Jag workshop in Sydney, then I have a few suggestions.
Tony Pallas in Brookvale has a number of Jaguars in his workshop under repair or restoration at any one time, including his ex Garry Willmington Group A XJS. I am sure he would be amenable to a group of enthusiasts descending on him.
Another thought Is Cremorne Prestige in Artarmon, not so much a restoration shop, but a very good Indy service outlet. Final thought would be Gavin King's Concours Restoration in Tuggerah, (near Wyong) where he'll have a number of fabulous Jags and Aston Martins undergoing restoration. He also produces very high quality replica lightweight E Types and C types.
So there are a few options to consider, and I'm sure all the proprietors would happily cooperate.

Hi Richard,

These are great suggestions. Might I suggest you follow up for some suggested dates/times that each would find OK, then post back here to promote to local Sydney members? Perfect opportunity to meet up and at same time, see how the professionals set about major rebuild or resto on various Jaguar models.

Stand back a little . . . don't want you injured by the rush to be a part of this!
Go for it; and best wishes as always,
Ken
