Cool Sat Nav - for Australian roads

Hi everyone
I've just moved from England so I need to change my sat nav maps to Australian roads - I beleive I just need to put in a new DVD in the changer in the boot. Anyone know where I can get one - that's not ridiculously priced? Have heard Jaguar charge $200!!!

Could be an unnecessary expense. According to my Atlas there's a circular road goes all the way round the coast and a straight one across the middle if you need a shortcut.

Beat me to it.

Of course, he can always just ask the other Graham before leaving since he's probably done any particular route a hundred times.

I got a new XF in September with the "Latest" Satnav maps.

I've just driven from Sydney to Hervey Bay and a lot of it was shown as "cross country" since the maps didn't have the upgraded Pacific highway, even though some are quite a few years old.

I tried to put in a Sydney address, just yesterday, but, it couldn't recognise it. This was for a street that must be, at least, 20 years old.

It's most disappointing since I have a Chinese made Satnav that I bought for $80 and it has maps for most of the world and can be updated whenever you need.

This will be mentioned when I take it in for its first service.

Was wondering if in the player that is the in the 2006 s type...it takes the sensis disc which frankly compared to other sat navigation is poor...If you took another disc. ..of another software sat navigation program. ..would it show up on the touch screen on the touch screen on the dash and be functional?

Default Coastal Rd and The Short cut

Hi Angela,
I have added a couple of pics of the two roads Graham mentioned earlier, just so there is no confusion which road you should stick to in your Jaguar.
The coast road is smooth and relaxing, the cross country road is a bulldust road with 100 meter long trucks that throw up dust clouds and have trailers that swing full lane widths from side to side. you can only pass them when the driver stops for a meal break.
That is why I have a Jeep as well.

Stitch is what Koalas are really like,not the cute fuzzy things you see in adds. Be very wary of them.

I'd almost bet my mortgage it wouldn't. Even copies of genuine Jaguar discs can fail to load.

Must agree on the poor quality of Jaguar Navigation system. I use my Indago combined SatNav / speed camera detector more than I use the inbuilt Jaguar Nav in my XK.

The navigation unit is from Denso, but it's Sensis / Whereis how actually provide the map data for AUS/NZ

I doubt very much that a map disc which was for a different manufacturer would be of any use in a Jag / Denso system.

But, a Denso Toyota/Lexus disc will work as the Nav is a Denso unit. I picked up a secondhand disc for $50 and it works in my XJR. You cannot update the software and for whatever reason the option to avoid tolls doesn't work. I also lost the ability to enter a destination while the vehicle is moving which I had with the EU maps.

Apart from that its ok.

Thanx...if I find a disc of another sort an dget a chance Ill let ya know

The other thing as you mentioned to is that one has to be at a standstill to enter a destination which is another daft idea...how do you do that on a highway at speed when ya need to navigate..
