I would try......

  • Stoner's Tarminator or Xenit
  • Meguiar's Body Solvent
  • WD40 - see if it will soften up the glue
  • Goo Gone

No specific order, just get your arsenal together along with a chilled beverage of choice. If all of these suggestions fail, you may want to resort to a pneumatic tools with a prep pad like a body shop uses....

I haven't used that tar and gum remover. I have and do use goo be-gone. I have used it on clearcoat, leather and vinyl. You need to work very quickly with a tooth brush, and wipe up immediately. Use it in a spot where you can see if it changes the appearance before using it on a noticeable area. you may need to compound and buff, but the stuff gets anything off, including ink on leather and embedded pine sap. which is a real btch here in the northeast.

The glue came off quickly in progress:

It took aboout 3 coats rubbed on and leaving to stand in between for a few mins then you could pull it off so to speak.

With the new vinyl on

As stated in Post 4

I rate it as an 8\10 it was time consuming.

Hence this week-end I have my wifes nephew coming over to do my glue removal on the insides of my 4 doors.... A bit of cheap labour

Plus I can get on finnishing the irefit of my walnut dash ...
