Default E-Type S1 FHC 3.8

Refitting my headlamps today and came upon this issue:

I refitted my Lucas H4 headlamps this afternoon both with Halogen H4 bulbs

1 shone like this:

No. 2 like this

Size: 110.1 KB

Yes its on.

Inside it looks like this...

Do the rivets need drilling out and taking the inside piece out, I tried it with 3 different new bulbs no joy :?:

Any suggestions :!:

What's changed? Presumably they both were fine before. Are you just upgrading the bulbs or have you changed the whole headlight fittings left and right? You say No.2 is on but do you just mean it's switched on or can you see if the bulb is actually burning though somehow obscured?

I doubt the inside piece is the issue. Presumably the two fittings are identical in this respect. I think it might be a wiring issue not having the answers yet to my questions.

I upgraded from original equipment a couple of months ago, to Hella H4s troublefree, for a vast improvement.

The reason for doing the headlight was i came home from a friends one evening in the autumn and could hardly see in front of me with the headlights on full

Headlight upgrade was then required, so was the rechrome of my front bumper

Default Front fenders not right

Clive the chrome is beautiful. I'd love to get my front chrome off to do the same, but also to plumb up the over-riders which are both laid out from vertical. Are they easy to get off and can I adjust them to achieve a good vertical alignment? See photo (Mine's the pretty red one on the left). I understand for my Series I, you have to take the headlights out to reach the fixings.

Graham,

They mosy probably arent straight because the bolts arent tightened on the inside.

Well to take them off:

Headlamp glass chromes off
Glass remove
Sugar scoops out
Then its 4 bolts

If you want to see a photo guide send me a PM and I'll send you the link

A job for the winter I'd say but they look good without the bumpers as well

My next job is the drivers door lock as with all Jaguars there is always another job when you finished the one you are working on...

Drivers Door - you shut it and then you cant open it unles you use the handle on the inside

So an inner door strip down if required...

Watch this space, tips before I start welcome if you have had lock issues yourself.
