Default Need to buy a bonnet for a Series 1

I have just enough pennies to purchase a needed bonnet for my restoration project. I have been restoring a 66 OTS and the bonnet was damage many years ago.
I would like to get thoughts on where and what to purchase, experiences or perhaps a line on a used one. What say ye?

Hi mowillgrubs,
I think most of the usual suspects may be able to get you a bonnet; SNG, Moss, Terry's Jaguar, and Welsh. I think your best chance for a used one, would be Welsh.
Goos luck.
Bill.

One for sale here, long way to collect though.

although looking closely, the one you already have is probably better

Martin Robey in Nuneaton, England, supply these. Not cheap, though ! I expect they are also supplied via other Jaguar suppliers around the world. Back in the day, it was Martin Robey who invested the money in E-type panels and saved the car from extinction. This was in the 80s, and eventually they could supply almost a full shell.

Have you checked with Chuck at Monocoque-Metalworks.com? He may have something ready to go or could restore your original to as good as or better than new. You couldn’t work with a nicer guy either. He lives and breathes E-types.

I tried them and they stated they would not ship to US individual. Prices are good and the quality is as well but...

Last time I checked they did not have bonnets. They did at one time.

I agree about checking with Monocoque Metalworks. Chuck can do some amazing repair work.

I also find it hard to believe Martin-Robey will not ship to the US. I order some trim from them about a year and a half ago, and they had no problem with shipping (of course it wasn't a bonnet I was buying). If I remember correctly, Ian was the guy in charge of the Jaguar parts.

I've had this issue with other kinds of parts and resolved it by having a specialist shop order it for me. The mark it up for their trouble but it still might work out for you.

If Martin-Robey are not shipping to the US now, it may be because of the cost of freight these days. Freight is just crazy expensive now.
