Default S3 Rear brake issue / rebuild

Hi all and thanks for any advice
A couple of years back I had some work done on my S3 ( new handbrake cable and pads plus new main pads ) but upon using the car I noted the dreaded burning smell and was able to trace it to the nearside rear disc. I had assumed it was a binding handbrake pad followed shortly by no handbrake.

I have just spent a pleasant bank holliday removing the IRS with no ramp but have found the nearside main pads are binding slightly ( prob the cause of the heat ) and one set of handbrake pads ( offside ) had simply dropped out/off ( I found one pad on top of the housing with little wear ).

Sounds like a simple calliper rebuild and a new set of handbrake pads ( the main pads are new ). I am not sure why the handbrake pads have dropped out though any advice ?

It was some 25 years ago I last had the IRS out. Can I get the callipers off without removing the "cradle" by taking the hand brake callipers off ?

There seems to be plenty of info on earlier models on You Tube but can anyone point me to a specific video on the S3 ?

Thanks

Simon

I don't know what an S3 is? Sounds like an early model Jaguar?
Maybe post in the section for that model?

Simon,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to E-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

I am reasonably sure you can remove the calipers by separating the handbrake caliper from the hydraulic calipers and removing them separately. It is tight. It has been a long time since I worked on an S3, I know it can be done on an XJS.
