Default Wire wheels

What fits what? Is the MGA ,TR, jag spline the same? Can I put series 1 wheels on my series 2 ? Is the offset the same? Do Dayton's have different splines? Is there a " chart " somewhere ? I saw a set of 16's from 50's jag . They had 16's ? I'd like to put those on my MGA . Thanks for any info.

They are likely all to be different, and even if some are the same, only buy stuff when it's proved to be so. There is no "chart" as far as I know. As for your MGA, on both the Moss and MGOC spares websites, the only size wheels listed are 15". So if you want to fit 16", you're on your own, basically.

Jaguar splined hubs = 52mm
Lesser car (MG, TR, etc.) splined hubs = 42mm
See:
Richards Bros - Hubs

Default jag xke splines

Triumph, MGA_Bs and Healeys all use the same size wheel spline. (even though the wheel size maybe different eg: 14" or 15") Jaguar E-Types all use a spline size of their own being about 1/2" larger than the cars above. The knock-off
nuts are proportionately larger as well.

OK it turns out after measuring a series i, 2, or 3 XKE they all use 52 milimeter center hub splined attachments the MGs, healeys, and Triumphs all use the same 42 millmeter
splined hub and much the same offset (edgemount spokes). Dayton has centerlaced spoke wheels in both sizes 42 & 52 mm this gives a wider stance to your tread width
and dramaticly improves the look of any of these cars.

The two styles of hubs (curly and straight, or is it larry and moe) refers only to the exterior contour of the wire wheel's hub center, not the splined mounting hub, which are all the same 52mm. As I recall, Jaguar claimed that they went from the curly hub to the straight hub because it was "stronger" - but maybe it was just cheaper to manufacture. The S3 wheel differed in being wider (with the more flared wheel well openings) compared to the S1/S2, with wider section tires.

...also, going wider can create a fight removing the tire in the unhappy event of getting a flat.....
