for 67 E type, spark plug with spark gap=0.035 inch is best suited for the engine.

If yours is the 4.2 triple SU engine, the original specs (assuming the original petrol and ignition components) called for Champion N.11Y, gapped at 0.025". I think the current equivalent is the Champion RN11YC4. Lots of folks use the NGK BP5ES - I'm doing a regular service on mine next week, and that's what I am installing. That 0.035" gap is a bit ambitious, unless you have more 21st century ignition zapp mods compared to what was original to this ignition system. My car is stock except for Mike Eck's Points Saver Deluxe black box. I'm gapping mine at 0.030".

I'm not familiar with the later twin Stromberg engine, so that may be different. Spark plugs are a bit of a religious issue, so your results may differ.

My recent experience with Bosch plugs. What you read on the internet is true, electrodes are falling off! No responce at all from repeatedly trying to contact Bosch as well. See pics below

Having the missing bits rattling around couldn't have been helpful.

Wow, and I was going to use Bosch. They almost look like a sever case of detonation or pre-iginition.

No detonation. I always burn premium fuel. Sold car last year locally. Talked with owner 2 days ago & fortunately it still runs like a top with 260,000 + km .

It will be awhile before I'm ready but I'll probably stick to the Champions to start with.

Wow! Thanks for the info... I was going to go with Bosch tomorrow!... I currently have ngks in and never have been a fan. I think I'll go with champion.. I think I lost my confidence with Bosch.

Hi,
I've always used NGK in my E-types, (BP5ES in a 4.2) .25 for points and .25-.35 if you use an electronic system (Pertronix or 123) I personally wouldn't bother with any other make as NGK's are reliable. (Though I've heard Champions are now better made than they were a few years ago).

I'm installing a Pertronix distributor and coil with Accell wires. I'll be using the NGK's BP5ES gapped at .35 for initial setting. I've been running Bosch plugs in all my other vehicles and rec vehicles with no problems. I decided to use the NGK's from input from this forum and others. Thanks all.

NGK’s seem to suit the XK engine, also most British cars up to the ‘90’s. I think go with Bosch in anything Continental European, Fords, VW, BMW etc. I’d steer clear on anything multi electrode. Of course all just my opinion.

Since your asking, IMHO NGK are the best, champion are not even champion any longer made in mexico, they are junk.Gap goes to 35. if electronic ignition.
