2018 F-pace 2.0D major issues
Hello all,
I have a 15 F-type R, but my wife drives an 18 F-pace 2.0d. During normal driving she said out of nowhere it went into "restricted performance" and white smoke bellowing out the exhaust. Up to date on all maintenance as she bought a package with the car purchase. It's an 18 with 54k miles. Should still be under factory powertrain warranty I believe.
I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar issue with this set up? Had timing belt done 5,000 miles ago under warranty for a fluid leak.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks!

Howdy Fellow Houstonian
The car is still under warranty. Just take it to the dealer and don't spend a single cent fixing it. One problem could be an easy fix a small crack in rubber hose. Have them check if there's a crack. Here's an info from Land Rover regarding Restrictive Performance. Good luck.

Howdy,
That's the problem with turbo engines. Turbo needs 'fresh oil' to lubricate the bearings. It runs really hot at high RPMs. How often do you do an oil change? I would recommend every 5K miles. Do not fall what the owner's manual say about Extended Oil Change to 10K or even up 15K. My 2018 XF has a 2.0 Turbo Gas engine. I always go for 5K oil change. There are 2 JLR locations at Katy, just minutes apart of each other. The other one is a new location and the one at Old Katy just recently renovated. I went to Old Katy JLR to to buy a Key Fob+Program 2 years ago.
At least you should get a loaner. If I were you, I will contact Jaguar USA in regards to their policies. Questions that are not answered by JLR dealerships, whether you get a loaner or not.
My XF is the first car with a Turbo engine. Driving it is a totally different approach compared to an engine that does not have a Turbo. Have your wife watch this video "5 things you should never do in a Turbocharge Vehicle". This video taught me a lot about turbo engines. Good luck

That's just what the dealer told her, if it's chained please goodness forgive her for being wrong. She's a Nurse, cars aren't really her thing. Jaguar is replacing under factory warranty, 35k worth of repairs, and giving us a loaner for 3 months. As they should. However she's getting rid of it after all the issues in the first 60k. I appreciate your concern. May be selling my F-Type R soon too.

My f pace just had the same issue. Im taking it tomorrow to the dealership.
The car stopped accelerating while driving down the highway and i pulled over to the side and noticed a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes.

Yeah, Needed a motor. Turbo/ timing failure is what the dealer told her. Took 3 months to complete. 37K in parts and labor. Got it back for 3 days. It has been in the shop 3 times for "different issues" since and she has been in a loaner for 5 months. We have a laywer suing for Texas Lemon Law suit. Hopefully we can lemon title the vehicle so no one else gets stuck with it.
