If you are planning a front brake pad change .....
I was all set on Saturday to do a full pad change using Brembo brand pads and wear sensors supplied by Autodoc in Germany. I'm a great believer in OE parts but will not buy brake discs or pads from JLR. Their markup is outrageous.
I'd replaced the rear pads last year but a month in the Sierra Nevada of southern Spain used the brakes more than I would in a year in England so I decided to change them again together with the fronts. The only complication is putting the EPB into "maintenance mode" but my iCarsoft does this without the need for any parking brake/ignition ON/OFF/ accelerator pedal pressing sequences.
Moving on the the front, I removed the plugs and went to remove the slider pins. These turned out to be 11 mm Hex. I have three sets of hex sockets and none of them include 11 mm. They go from 10 mm then 12 mm. Checking online I found every other set available was the same. Fortunately my local autoparts had the required 11 mm and it was available separately.
One final detail. The harness connector for the front wear sensor is hidden behind the wheelarch liner.
