Default OTA Updates failing

I have a 2024 F-Pace SVR with ~ 11,000 miles. On occasion, particularly when it's cold, when I start the vehicle I will get a brief "low battery" warning. I've been unable to successfully update the vehicle software because over the air updates are failing. I suspect there might be an issue with the accessory battery. Has anyone else experienced this?

There is no accessory battery. You should never get a low battery warning. Likely means the battery is failing. It's not unusual on modern cars - lots of demands on the battery and sometimes they just don't last. Assume you're still in warranty? Take it to dealer and they will test and replace on warranty

OTA updates require a well charged battery. Without that they will fail to ensure they don't corrupt the modules in the car. So that should work fine once you resolve the battery issue.

yes, I had the same exact thing happen. I also have a 2024 F Pace SVR and could not do any updates because of the low battery. I ended up needing a new battery and that fixed everything. The dealer recommended a trickle charge device be used weekly so this wouldn't happen again. Good luck!

I have found that the battery in our cars don't last long. I have a 2022 SVR and I'm working on my 3rd battery. A lot of the times, I have found that if you get the low battery warning, your battery is already on it's way out particularly in colder temps. I didn't bother charging the last battery and just replaced it. I will be adding a trickle charge before the winter comes back. As for the updates, unless the car is reading a full battery, it will prevent all downloads of updates.

Guys, we have an AGM battery in our SVRs. There really should be no reason it's failing in 3 years or less (manufacturing or warranty issue withstanding), but depends on a person's driving habits.
A CTEK will be your friend here.
My rover and XJL AGM batteries lasted 8 years easily without replacement, but I used them as 2nd cars or dailys.

The modern battery management systems hold the battery around 80% charge at full, to allow for some passive energy recovery when conditions are right (overrun, low load decel, etc), and limit charging to times where it reduces extra fuel consumption/emissions. The downside is you can shorten the life of the battery depending on your usage and drive cycles. A trickle charger to routinely top it off will avoid the calculated capacity getting too low and triggering that 'low battery start engine' warning, or losing the reserve needed to complete SOTA updates. Stupid, but that's what we have to deal with.

You are 100 % correct. My service advisor told me the exact same thing after my first battery died after 3 years. Since I do not drive my car often enough to keep the system charged, I was told to get a trickle charger but unfortunately our HOA wouldn't allow me to use a extension cord from my house to my driveway. I am on my 3rd battery so far.
