Thing about buying a V8 in Ionic Silver Satin. Looks so lovely, but is it worth it? I park in indoors, but on holiday it will catch a lot of bugs and will be parked outside. Will it be a lot of extra work? I read terrible stories about matte colors, but maybe things improved over the last couple of years?

Any hints much appreciated.

When we got our BRG early last year, I was about to make a deal on a satin one in Dallas, but the sales manager was kind of a jerk so the deal fell through and got a gloss one out of Charlotte. I really like the look but I don't think I'd like the extra effort in cleaning. I think if it's a weekend/holiday car, it would be worth it, but something more akin to a daily driver might wear on you after a while.

Honestly matte you have to be so careful you’d really need to do a ppf on it so there is that cost.

i would save that money and just get a matte ppf film, basically same look. Just my 2cents

Matte finish is only good for a sunday driving car. Daily driver no way ! You can't use regular car washes, automatic Car washes, you have to order matte finished approved car shampoo , if you get a scratch it's nearly impossible to touchup, and costs 2-3X more to have that panel repainted. I personally loved the Benz matte white when it came out, then did the research and talked to my detailer I use twice a year and he said was a OCD persons nightmare waiting to happen.

Anybody know what the difference is between regular
‘ultra blue metallic paint’
and
’SVO Ultra metallic paint in gloss finish’ ??

The two colors look nearly similar.

The first one mentioned above cost zero and the second one is listed as a $4550 option with a description code of 704SV

from my understanding in talking with LRNA about my buyback.... and she could have been incorrect on this.... that the SVO Ultra Metallic blue is " velocity blue ( which is a deeper blue color) " or the orange . " ultra blue " is no longer a " SVO " color , but still a " premium color "

That actually makes sense.

Ultra blue may no longer be a ‘SVO’. color but I think it’s still only available on the SVR version of the F pace, correct?

And did you consider velocity blue when you bought your ultra metallic blue SVR’s?

I bought a on-the-lot left-over 2020 , was a saw-it and bought it situation. I have seen that Velocity blue and it's really really nice. Personally , I like the ultra blue , it stands out more and when I was driving it people gave me the thumbs up, or at gas stations or stop lights people said they loved it and a few didn't even recognize it was a Jag and asked what type of SUV it was.

I have not seen the velocity blue in person but I’m guessing the ultra blue has more of a “pop” to it.

I currently own a 2016 Jag XJL Portfolio that is ‘dark sapphire metallic’
(somewhat of a darker blue)’.

It’s been a great car but quite frankly I find the color to be a bit dull.

Ultra blue def " pops" more , and that's why I bought it . Like being the one that stands out or not the normal dime a dozen color on the road.

Totally agree.
That’s why I bought my Porsche 911 C4S in the paint to sample color of ‘Viper Green’. No way you will ever miss that car in a parking lot.....LOL!!

I stopped by the dealer to get something out of my problematic SVR , took pics of the SVO velocity blue and ultra blue samples in the showroom

I like the Ultra Blue better as well. fit shows the metallic better , and has more " pop" ..

yes the velocity blue does have metallic in it , but it's not as noticeable as in the ultra blue
