Default 02 Sensor Help 2016 F Type R United States

Hello All,

I was driving home and my check engine light came on, long story short I used my odb2 and it says the following:

02 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to lean Bank 2 Sensor 2

I called around and everyone is quoting between 2-400 for the part and another 3-400 for labor. Has anyone had any issues with something like this and had success fixing it on their own? I saw some forums and links but they are generally dead when it comes to finding the part etc. I know Bosch makes parts for it as well. Where would this sensor be located and do you guys think this could be fixed fairly easily? I am fairly handy but I just didn't want to pay more than I needed to but I also didn't want to make anything worse. Any and all advice would be appreciate thank you!

Hey brother,

Very simply a faulty O2 sensor. They are under an extended warranty with Jaguar USA. So go into your local dealership for a free replacement!
Enjoy!

Hello!
Really? I literally just called the dealership in Indianapolis and they quoted me all sorts of crazyness. If so that would be amazing.

Yea well they have no clue what they are talking about! I had it replaced on my Stage 2 F-Type free of charge. So either tell them to inform themselves or go to another dealership that knows their product.

I also had an O2 sensor replaced until warranty even though the CPO had expired. Should be covered since it is a federally-mandated emissions component. Can't remember if it is extended to 8 or 10 years.

That would be amazing, thank you! I will update you guys. Only certified/official Jaguar dealerships will take care of this correct?

I thought it was extended to 15 years in the US? But not, of course, in the UK.

The warranty on O2 sensors in Canada by JLR Canada was extended to 15 years from the in-service date. Obviously, independent service shops do not have access to the JLR warranty.

If you find that no one will fix it under warranty, it's not terribly hard to do yourself:

Default Driving Limitations?

Hello All,
So I have an appointment scheduled in a couple weeks for them to factory replace the sensor. I really have only put 10 miles on the car since the light came on. How much (if at all) can I drive the car with this sensor being faulty? I know 02 sensors aren't the biggest deal but I didn't want to go zip around and in term cause any other issues. If I can drive it, do I need to avoid using dynamic/sport mode or keep the exhausts closed etc? Or is it possible to use it full power without any concern?

I drove my XJ several weeks with the light on while waiting for the part to come in. I don't think you will have any problems.
It was only in the $60-$80 range and it was just simpler for me to change it. As posted above it's very easy and another recommendation is since your in there I changed both of them out.

No harm to driving with a bad O2 sensor. Its sole purpose is to trigger the warning light in the event something truly is wrong. (Bad cat or fuel mixture)

Ugh... the ODBC light came on yesterday and today i started to misfire. Hoping to nurse it to the dealership tomorrow. Got a tester and it returned multiple error codes related to sensor and misfire.

Repair completed today...took two trips as the sensor was not in stock. No fee... however, the "might as well get an oil change while I'm here" was a bad idea, as their price has skyrocketed to $314 for that task.

$314 for a job that can be done in 20 min without tools? That's ridiculous. Buy yourself a Mityvac for a third of that and never pay those thieves again. It's the easiest oil change you'll ever find.
