2014 Extended Warranty options Please
Hi all, first post on here
My wife and I are getting very close to buying a 14 V8 but the warranty will expire less than a year. The cost between a CPO and a non-CPO similarly speced car is about 3-4k, and I wonder if that's worth for 2 additional years of warranty. I know 3rd party extended warranties are never as good and have exclusions or deductibles, can anyone recommend one that I can look at, with good pricing, coverage and easy process? 3-4k to me is a no brainer to go with the CPO ones, but we manage to find a private seller who is able to provide greater savings, like 8-10k difference.
We've never own a jag and know it probably has some quirks on the forum. And since we dont know any jag mechanics yet I want to feel a bit better about the purchase. Can anyone chime in on their thoughts on 3rd party extended warranty options? or can the factory warranty be extended with cost?
Thanks!!

I purchased a CPO 2014 V8S in April this year (southern cal), and it is warrantied till 9/2020. I believe the dealer cost is $1500.I would recommend the CPO. The car is expensive to fix, and the peace of mind will let you sleep better at night !!! Also, if you find something wrong with the car that wasn't disclosed during the sale, you will have leverage with Jaguar USA ( they want to protect their CPO program image) I would negotiate hard, and have them throw in the CPO. Tell them you are going to walk without the CPO. I would not pay 3-4K for CPO.
Ask them why are they worried CPO? Is there something wrong with the car?
There are plenty of these cars still around (some of them with less then 1000 mile). Then there are 2015s, and 2016s that the dealers will try to move prior to year end.
Good luck !!!!
PM if you need any help - I extensively researched the inventory and pricing in CA prior to making my purchase.

Dealers CPO the car for profit. So I doubt they would "throw that in". In fact, if they're throwing it in, they're taking that $1,500 from somewhere...that is, it was overpriced by $1,500 to begin.
A CPO car is easier to sell, and can typically net at least $500 more in profit on the sale ($1,500 cost for CPO, but $2,000 mark up on the car). I wouldn't pay $3k to $4k for CPO. $2k for most brands (like Mercedes and Audi) is a fair price. However, I'm not positive on the cost of Jag CPO though. More familiar with the others.
I'd be more concerned about a car that meets the CPO criteria (years and mileage) that a dealer didn't or wont CPO. That means there's enough repairs necessary to the car to not make it worth CPO'ing. Again, a CPO car will get a little extra profit, so a dealer with typically CPO it if it's worth it, before they list it for sale.

Thanks all!!!
$1500 only for CPO? man...the cost difference between a non CPO from an independent dealer and a dealer is 4k, with exact same spec color and even similar mileage...
I saw 3-4 in my area all CPO and they are pretty firm on the pricing. I checked v8 pricing closely for a year, I remember seeing a couple below 60k and now a year later I dont understand all the pricing actually gone up. Maybe it's "summer pricing"...if there's such a thing

Hi thanks for the input. I did looked into this. The car's in service date is 07/2013, so it's actually till 07/2017...less than a year away. Does anyone know if you can extend the factory warranty?

Do you mind sharing the ballpark cost for such extension?
- Is it the same bumper to bumper, no deductible warranty coverage like the original 4 year?
- Approximately how much was it?
- Do you have to pay the dealer to do an inspection to get this extension? like a ferrari?
- can you shop for this warranty in any jag dealer in US? or just the local one? Is there negotiation room for pricing from dealer to dealer (for example, fidelity extended warranty for Audi have a huge pricing range from dealer to dealer for the same coverage)
Thanks!!

It's actually a bit more than this. JLR actually does charge for CPO, but I don't believe that it is anywhere near $3k, more like 1/2 that or less.
