Default 2015 vs. 2020 F Type R

I have thoroughly enjoyed owning my '15 F Type R, but I recently sold it. Consequently, I am looking for a replacement, and that leads me to the '20 F Type R. What are the most apparent differences between the two model years? Obviously, the drive system tops the list, but after that what comes to mind? Beyond a list of the changes, does a five year difference make a difference once you're behind the wheel? I appreciate any insights that can be provided.

Everyone has their lists. Only positive I would see is better entertainment electronics. Neg is looks. Specifically the Sils and front end.

Not that I have an R let alone a '20 but I understand the '20 seat backrests are much thinner (but still comfortable and supportive) so they allow for a lot more leg room.

The new seats are great but the side bolsters are no longer inflatable. But they're heated/cooled so I accept the trade off.

Infotainment is night and day. CarPlay available.

They finally got the stereo sorted as well.

The new headlights are nice. The exterior styling changes are what they are. Some dislike them but I like it.

Thanks to all that have responded thus far. Are there any changes in the drivability? Suspension changes, braking, power delivery? I believe the front suspension now has some components from the SVR, but do you notice a difference? I am attempting to distinguish hype from reality. Clearly, I have not had an opportunity to drive a '20 so I am making my decision "remotely."

The pops 'n' crackles from the exhaust might be reduced, if that is important to you.

The new headlights may be functionally superior, but I much prefer the looks of the old ones, along with the rest of the front end design.

I don't think you'll find anything noticeable about the difference in driving experience

This is a strange time for me. I have never bought the same car twice, let alone consecutively. When I have bought the same model it has only been after a major revision. I don't consider my situation a problem, more of a statement that the F Type is fantastic.

So, why a new one?

Damn good question. I like variety. Not the best answer, but at my age I don't even try to justify my thinking to myself.

Who needs to justify buying a new toy?

Im in the same position in that I can’t believe I’m buying the same model. I am moving from an S to an R so that will be a substantial change. Also the new seats fit my 6’2” frame much better.

Im told my 2020 is in the city waiting for enough cars to fill the trailer.

Here’s what I noticed going from ‘16 to ‘18...LED headlights are nice, seats are roomier with cooling, huge improvement in infotainment (‘20 is even better), and I think they made suspension changes as well. Mine is lowered, but the suspension still seems more compliant than my previous coupe until it runs out of suspension travel. On my previous coupe, the suspension was pretty harsh at times, and would jump when going over bumps, whereas this convertible seems smoother and goes over bumps better as long as they aren’t too big. I like the front end changes. The side skirts are also improved...the ones on my ‘16 were too wide in my opinion. That said, they are revising the car again in the next year or so, so you might want to wait and see what they change.
