Unhappy 2018 F-Type R Convertible Top Won't Close

Help Fellow F-Type R Convertible Owners!

Just bought this 2018 F-Type R Convertible a few days ago. Drove from Atlanta to Buffalo area, 900 mi. plus. Dropped convertible top for first time this morning. I'm fully familiar with how top works from the 2016 F-Type I traded for this one. Roof opened as usual and dashboard indicated it had properly locked down. Lo and behold, can't get the roof to close! Nothing happens when up button pushed. Can't get dealer appointment for almost 3 weeks. Questions:

1. Anything else I should try to get it to close?

2. Will I harm the top by leaving it locked down for 3 weeks if necessary? The manual contains a procedure to manually close it but that seems a tad complicated. Yes, I would keep it in garage!

Never had a roof issue with the 2016, so I'm not currently a very happy camper.

Many thanks in advance!

First thing I'd suspect is low battery voltage but if you've driven 900 miles ....
Unless you have a battery drain - does the hazard switch light go out when you lock it?

Did it operate properly before you drove it 900 miles?

Thank you. Yes the hazard switch light remains on. No indication on dash of low battery such as I had for about 2 yrs on my 2016 before it finally conked out at 42k. During that time never any up and down roof problem. I could put the trickle charge on this evening just in case but I tend to doubt it's the battery. But thanks. Please send any other ideas.

My bad. But the car wasn't even detailed when I arrived at dealership (unlike my trade which was fully detailed inside and out). Spent most of the day getting that done (crummy job) and replacing a bubbled tire and fixing curb rash on a wheel. Had to drive several hours to Lexington so by 4 pm I just wanted out of there. Didn't have time to check anything. Was counting on CPO inspection and had bought my 2016 at this same dealership and frankly never had to do anything for two years other than regular maintenance and replace battery and a couple tires. Probably wouldn't have tested top anyway since it always worked perfectly on my 2016. Now I have to have it towed 230 miles next week to the nearest dealer who can look at it before Christmas.

Agree with SCM, lucky for you its just the same old battery issue causing gremlins again and not something else. Just search one of the millions of threads on this issue . . Hazard light won't stay on if it was actually just an isolated roof problem.
Biggest issue will be finding your battery drain. Just an OBDI port issue if you are lucky that will be fixed by battery disconnect. Trickle charger may not be enough but def next thing to try before getting battery checked properly.

On second thought -Given that you have just driven 900miles the alternator should have charged up your battery so it is more than just a simple battery drain. so i suspect you are going to need a new expensive battery as it is obviously not holding charge. Hopefully you can claim this back??

Thanks. I will try trickle charger first. A "CPO" vehicle should have at least a minimally sufficient battery, not one that fails four days after purchase. But I would expect the dealership up here to tell me that normal maintenance items aren't covered under warranty. So will have to see what I can do.
