Default 2025 Type R Rotor Options

Whats the concensus in 2025 for best Aftermarket Rotor options or is the Heavy Jag option still viable. Lots of posts from a few years ago when searching. For those that have went aftermarket how are things now. Whats the Best and most cost effective option. VAP (Expensive) R1 Concepts, Stoptech, Brembo

Im going with porterfield r4-s Pads

Aftermarket brands like R1 Concepts are hit or miss on quality. Stoptech are good but more expensive without a big benefit for street use. Save your money, the Jag rotors are the way to go.
Our VAP rotors are going to be cost effective compared to OEM, and are not hit or miss on quality. Girodisc makes an excellent product, and you can save a ton of weight along the way!

My car is a 17 F Type R with the Super Performance brakes. I've put close to 11,000 miles on the car with zero issues. And they work with the OE brake pads if you choose to maintain your original pads.

Stuart

Sell me on why your rotors are more than double the cost of the OEM rotors from Jag. I got a quote form JAG for 486.07 for a pair of rear rotors.

Compared to what most people in North America are being quoted, our rotors will usually come in at similar or better price. They are 53lbs lighter than the stock rotors, and can be rebuilt on the next use (replacing just the swept portion.)

We dropped 10lbs per front rotor, and 16.6 per rear rotor. 53lbs of rotating mass is an..... insane amount of weight reduction. You'll feel that in acceleration, deceleration and also in ride quality. That's 53lbs less weight the spring & damper have to control as well.

When we started this project, the guys at Girodisc were literally laughing about it because they normally get a great response from say, the Porsche community when they can drop 2 or 3 lbs per rotor. 10lbs from the whole vehicle would be a big result. And we got 50+

I am running the Velocity AP rotors and love them. They look great and work even better. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to keep OEM calipers. Add some better brake pads of the brands/need you have and enjoy!

Tarox produce 380mm front discs in one (Part No 0438) or two piece (Part No S3-3262) configuration. These are also available in five 'styles', curved groove, straight groove, drilled, drilled and grooved or plain. The two piece front discs provide comparable weight savings to the VAP/Girodisc offering, coming in at 13kg (29lbs) each.

Although not listed for the F-Type on Tarox website, they do produce a 376mm rear disc for the XF (X250), Part No 0437, which is a direct fit for the F-Type.

Tarox discs are not 'cast' and machined in the conventional way, they are CNC milled from a solid steel billet. Quote “Using only the finest materials, each TAROX Bespoke disc is machined from a solid billet of high-quality European steel, which is then heat treated for extra strength. Our steel has an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 57kg/mm2. Using CNC technology, each slice of billet is machined into the exact dimensions required to ensure a perfect fit for each application. Vented discs are manufactured with curved internal ventilation, utilising 20 directional ‘venturi’ vanes which accelerate hot gasses and aid heat dissipation. Composite brake discs that require a two piece configuration receive a hub section machined from 7075 billet aluminium which we hard anodise for protection from the elements”.

Widely available in USA and Europe.

Thanks Skizot. Is it worth Over double the cost of the stock rotors though.

Stuart,

what’s the process/cost for rebuilding them? And do you have an estimated mileage range for how much use you could get out of these rotors compared to OEM?

Replacement rings come with new hardware. The process is to unbolt the ring from the hat, and bolt the replacement ring to the hat with new hardware, torqued to spec. Longevity should be the same as OEM, perhaps a little better.
