Yes, I have been to Gilmore. The scope of it is staggering. I was there for a cancer society fund-raising event, so I honestly didn't have enough time to do it justice. So many beautiful cars housed in a dozen or more huge buildings across several acres of land. It's an all-day affair or multi-visit venue to be sure.
Just my 2 cents ! I believe the problem lies with the mechanics using power drivers/guns to remove those bolts instead of doing it with a hand ratchet. With the rachet you can feel it tightening so you can work the bolt in and out and it will come out without busting the castle nut in the body. When using a power gun they are just zipping it quickly, it becomes stuck and breaks the castle nut. I know this because it happened to me. I broke the first nut using a power gun but then used my hand ratchet on the second one and it came out fine.

Hello All,
Spoke with Jaguar service manager today regarding this issue. Apparently, the "fix", in this case, is going to be drilling through the side of some kind of box channel on the underside of the body which is at a right angle to the captive nut, tacking the nut through that hole then filling the hole; rather than drilling through the floorpan. So, I "think" I am happier with that solution that drilling through the floorpan, but disappointed it needs to be done at all. Unfortunately, the "fix" will span several days (undetermined). So, they were able to "secure" the cross-member well enough to let me drive the car...until they can find a loaner F-Pace and get the F-Type back in the shop. My wife's been wanting to test drive an F-Pace for an extended period of time anyhow, so that is the blessing in disguise.
