5 Liter V8 Oil Question
I asked my dealer for a quart of engine oil for my 2021 F Type R. They sold me Castrol Edge Professional 0W-20 and it says on the back that it meets JLR specification STJLR.51.5122.
However, my owners manual says the correct oil for the V8 is STJLR.03.5006 and what they gave me is for the 3 liter V6. Take it back or OK to use for top off oil if needed during the break in period ?

From the Jaguar documentation:
5.0 L Petrol - SAE 0W-20 meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification STJLR.03.5006, or STJLR.51.5122. MENA markets: due to market specific requirements, SAE 5W-20 meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification STJLR.03.5004.
No issues with what you have...

Thanks DC. I found some additional information on a Service Compliance Notification # JLRP00119 dated 02/18.
For the V8 (engine AJ133) it states Oil Spec STJLR.03.5006 and recommends Castrol Edge Professional E C5 0W-20 oil and goes on to state "Thanks to backward compatibility of the new specification, the new Castrol EDGE Professional E C5 0W-20 (STJLR.03.5006) will now replace the previously recommended Castrol EDGE Professional E 0W-20 (STJLR.51.5122)"
So I'm sure this one quart is OK to use for top up if necessary and when I am ready to do a full oil and filter service I will make sure to shop for the new STJLR.03.5006 in either the Castrol Edge Professional or Liqui-Moly brand if I can find it in the new specification.
Edited to add: Checking around online and then sending an inquiry directly to Castrol got an answer that the new formula Castrol EDGE Professional E C5 0W-20 (STJLR.03.5006) is only available through Jaguar/Land Rover dealerships and is not sold by any online retailers. My closest dealerships are almost a hundred mile round trip. Sure would have been nice to buy online from a retailer who offered free shipping and have it delivered right to my front door.
