No meaningfull rain here for over 230 days, new record (but no climate change), so I don't know how effective they are.

I took a good look at these devices when I had the nose off to install the P7 grille. They can’t weigh more than a few ounces each. The pump is the same pump used for the windshield wipers.

You are correct...Not much to them. There are actually 3 pumps though (Tank Mounted). One is in the rear tank (main tank under the rear hatch) that pumps fluid to the front tank (smaller tank). In the front tank, there are two separate small pumps...One routes to the wipers/windshield, and the other routes to the Headlamps. Just FYI. Picture below of the front tank with two pumps from when I installed the Water/Methanol system.

Take care,
DC

Thanks for the info. I was only aware of the rear and front pumps for the wiper-washers. With the 3rd pump, I'm guessing that the pump water pressure is the only thing used to extend the lamp sprayers. I was thinking there was an electrically actuated valve diverting water from the wiper-washers periodically. But hey, why not throw a few more pumps on the car.
