Question Adding ambient lighting to F-type interior, input helpful

Since I have the base V6, my interior lighting is the phosphor blue (which I do like and am not going to change). Tonight though, when I was at a well known electronics store in this area purchasing a new head unit for the Cayenne, I was thinking about adding some ambient lighting in the F-type.
I'm considering adding Purple LED lighting behind the drivers and passengers seatbacks. My car is the Black Amethyst Metallic, so I thought that the purple lighting would look great at night with that color. The tech said that they could have a toggle switch to turn it on or off, and could also tie it in to the doors so that it would turn on when you open the doors. My question is though, do you think it would clash with the phosphor blue existing lighting?

I was thinking that since it would be behind the seatbacks that it would not be an issue.

I wouldn't add anything to my car, but there is a purple option with the ambient lighting in the S which co exists with the blue in the doors so go for it if that's your thing.

In any event, it's going to look like an Xmas tree.

After sleeping on it and giving it some thought, I agree. Not a good idea.

I saw something similar on the XK forum, but it was a blue leaper. Does that just tie into the light under the door?

They had the blue leaper too but I though the red in this matched my car better. Install took a couple minutes. Just remove the courtesy door lights from under the door. You can use your hands to remove. Then unplug harness and plug new one in.

Mine got delivered today and I just installed them. Installation was easy and it looks pretty good. My only complaint is that I wish the Jaguar writing sharper, but I realize that it is a pretty detailed design to fit into a small area...and its made in China:-)

I bought these also and installed them on Monday. The only issue I have with them is the jaguar logo spins freely in the housing so the logo is pointing in a different direction every time I open the door. I'll pull them out this weekend and see if I can figure out a way to secure it so it doesn't spin.

Default Question about base model ambient LEDs

Curious... Does your base model have LEDs light up inside the center console passenger "handle"?

Technically, even the Base has Ambient Lghting - it just isn't enabled. So you get just the blue end of the spectrum.

Question Adding Ambient LED in Base Model

Hi -- Was wondering if others with the base model can confirm that.

It seems from the 2016 MY, there are blue LEDs inside the door handle section, but not along the bottom edge of the door handle trim (like in the S and R versions) and it appears the middle console passenger 'handle' lacks LEDs also. However, I did notice that the the console handle has a clear lens underneath, though I can't tell if LEDs are installed.

Wondering if it's possible to install LEDs in these stock areas as an after market somehow and if anyone has wiring diagrams, etc.

Cheers,
EL1

I assume you're talking about what some refer to as the passenger-side, "oh sh.." handle. My base car most certainly does have the blue LEDs on the underside of that handle.

So yours lights up but is there an Ambient controller in the LCD apps to turn them off or on? Mine doesn't have anything under extras except Stealth.

Did yours come from the dealer already functioning?

Thanks!

Could be that the lights are fitted in all the models, just need to be "activated" in the vehicle settings? (i mean dealer-only settings with the diagnostic system, not via the touchscreen)
