There are no controls for them, and they are blue only. They just light up when the headlights are on. They've been functioning since I took delivery in June 2014.

All I can verify is what's on the '14 MY base, and I checked again last night after your question. It's entirely possible they've been dropped off the base on '16s.

Ambient LED Update

So a quick update after going into 2 different dealerships. Both said they had no way of turning the ambient LEDs on for the base model if it doesn't offer the built-in App typically found in the Extras section.

So hopefully someone out there knows of a way to tap into the built-in LEDs somehow. Based on my earlier pics, the LEDs or at least the light pipes are installed. I'm assuming they're wired up for power or are ready to be... Even if they didn't have LEDs behind the light pipes/lenses, I'd be open to installing aftermarket LEDs behind them.

Anyone have any ideas?

Well, if you can get me the circuit diagram, I can tell you how to put a switch in. Or, best case, they go somewhere obvious and it's a matter of removing a connector blank or something ridiculous. Or putting a connector on, something like that.
