Gentlemen...
Please we are all friends. Absolutely no need to generate static. The independence war was a very long time ago. There are many UK message board members here so why cause friction with unnecessary remarks. We are friends.
Thank you.
Let us take just a moment for a smile as I am absolutely positive that neither two comments you refer to were meant in any disparaging way. This is an example of Anglo Saxon humour to just get an innocent huff and puff going as we celebrate we being rid of them and they celebrating being rid of us.
Roberto raises a fair point that it isn’t always clear when someone’s joking - thus it’s helpful to include , etc to be clear we’re just joking around. The internet is good at a lot of things, but not context.
I saw a record number of F-types in my hometown, which has turned into a major resort town. I get to drive 930 miles in mine tomorrow, to get home. This was parked two houses over from my mom’s house. I played “red light/green light” and “Simon says” in that driveway 50+ years ago…
Oh, heaven's me, what in the world did we ever do before an emoji came around? How could we possibly have ever communicated effectively?
I think the problem is that text isn't really good at conveying emotion so people tend to read posts with their own biases. I knew (or at least hoped! ) that your post was intended to be as flippant as mine, so interpreted it that way. There are some not so enlightened people with their own agendas on the internet, of course (though not here, IME).
And most certainly not here. My post was indeed flippant as I took your post to be. I suppose that which I think is rather obvious should be obvious to most reasonable people. One of the very great things about our forum is that we as a general rule do not go about bashing, insulting or criticizing others and when it does ever so rarely occur, it is most quickly and justifiably removed. I am most grateful for that.
I am on this forum because I own a Jaguar. But I am also on this forum because I enjoy how it's run and the people on it who have helped me tremendously. I know many like yourself through a moniker and writings and that gives me a very good insight into what is written.
Thank you for your kind wishes! You Brits took great care of my dad, a Sr. Flight Control Officer at Raydon Air base during WWII, from the folks in Raydon to Metfield, my dad had nothing but positive words.
