Question Any hints for connecting an ipod?

I plugged the ipod into the orange glowing USB port. It displays "do not disconnect" and the Jag screen says "please connect ipod"

Never tried it and don't have any idea where my 2-3 remaining iPods are any more. I only Bluetooth stream from my iPhone, but try this:

The menus, symbols and soft button names are now a bit changed from this video, but the levels are the same. I get to the point where I select the ipod and I get the results as reported above. I wonder if it has to be a certain generation and above ipod. Mine's 11 years old. First time I've seen it since I bought it. Dug it out of the glovebox of my old MINI where it's been playing the entire time.

Yes, the old ones may not be compatible.

I have an old iPod from around 2006 and it doesn't work. I have a newer iPod Touch from 2008 and it does work. And use the USB port closest to the passenger side.

Ok. The ipod dinosaur may explain the issue. The symbol next to the port on the driver side would indicate that to be the port to use. What happens when you try to use that one?

Car goes into limp mode. (j/k)

I use the other one to plug in my iPhone. I can t remember why now, but had to settle on this methodology. Perhaps others can chime in.....

Plowing old soil here. Is there a way to play music via the usb cord from an iPhone? My MY16 seems to only play via Bluetooth. Thanks!

Yes, I do it on my ‘14. On my old nav system, I go into My Music, Sources, and select iPhone (or USB, DVD, etc.)

Thanks! For some reason that doesn't work on my MY16. It resorts to bluetooth.

Would turning BT off on the iPhone make any difference?

On the MY’16 connect the USB plug to the white port in the console (not the orange port). Then select iPod on the My Source screen. Music can be controlled from the center screen. Yes, disable BT on the iPhone.

Thank you! Unfortunately that's not working for my iPhone XR. Are you able to play Spotify that way by any chance?

Also, it's nuts that you have to disable bluetooth on your phone, and then presumably manually turn it back on if you receive a call while listening to music. JLR!

why don’t you want to play your music via BT? That resolves all the issues.

When I plug in my iPhone on my MY14, the nav system tells me that’s it disabling BT, so I don’t have to do anything else.

When my girlfriend plugged her iPhone in to charge on the 'media' USB port it stopped playback through my Android phone's bluetooth and said something to the effect of 'bluetooth not available while iPod plugged in'. We see where your loyalties lie Jaguar, lol.
