+1, the individuals who answer emails to the JagUSA website are a tremendous source of misinformation. You can get better information on this forum. Having said that I would still like to understand when and if the "F-Type Line" shuts down, or what happens with it, or when one can place an order, or does this issue of placing an order pertain only to the F. I mean this is a world wide company how can buying its product be such a mystery.

I am not 100% confident in the credibility of the Jaguar people that respond to email. Months ago I sent them an email asking a question about their fancy, colorful, 115 page soft covered book "Jaguar F-Type 2018, The Art of Performance" that I got from the dealer. The person that responded had no idea what book I was talking about.

I'll nag my dealer on March 1st.

Hi Bill - I am pretty sure you & I are working with the same dealer here in Western NY. I had pinged the manager late yesterday asking for an update. She replied that she had been out for a week with the flu and would follow up with me. Nothing from her today. I am off to the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto tomorrow and I am sure Jaguar will have some representation other than sales reps there (I hope).

Not sure what the protocol is for communicating directly with other Forum members on an individual basis but insofar as we are having the same issue, same dealer and might be well served to compare notes my email is gibbonsdb@gmail.com. I live in Colden, just south of Orchard Park.

If they can't ORDER a car until 3rd quarter and delivery is 3-4 months I would have a problem with that.

Thanx Malbec, I loved watching it ! Downloaded it to my desktop...

I had a discussion with my dealer if they would make a hybrid. He thought it wouldn't be possible to find a place for the batteries... But in the documentary there is a shot of the interior before the boot closes,
and you can see "HYBRID" at the bottom ... Who knows about a hybrid F-Type ? Not the E-Pace...

I found the programme but it was forumite Inspector-G who made it available on Dropbox. The prog was only available for a very short time. So we have him to thank for conserving the programme.

As my dealer as been promising March, I thought I'd reach out and see if there is any update.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning Karim

I'll let you know as soon as we have allocations for the 2019! There is no update yet.

Thank you for your patience

Is what I got, anyone else have any good news?

Not sure if this data point is helpful from last year:

For the MY2018 -- the salesperson received the pricing guide from JLR Canada on Feb 6, 2017. BUT, it wasn't until May 15 that they were able to spec a custom order for me -- and I took delivery in August.

Default Have a Build Date

Hi Folks,

This is from my dealer:
  • We finally have your 2019 F-Type Scheduled and ordered
  • done directly at the UK office
  • have till 3/29/18 to change the order for color and equipment
  • scheduled to be built on 04/13/2018
I don't know how long it takes to build one and what the travel time is across the Atlantic and across New York State to my town.

Stay tuned.

You could have the car by the beginning of June if it’s not held up in the port for regulatory reasons.

Default Jaguar Built in its Own Building

Hi,

This is not important ...

Regarding https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2/#post1842041

My dealer said the F-type does NOT have it's own assembly line. The line can alternate between F-type's and other Jaguar's. He wasn't sure which ones.

Ummm... for those of us who have toured the Jaguar facility -- the F-type certainly does have its own dedicated building and production line. What's funny is that when I spoke to my dealer about what I had seen -- no one at the dealership had ever been to the UK to see the production themselves. So, not surprised the dealership wouldn't know the reality.

There may be more hold-ups yet, see this story: https://news.sky.com/story/jaguar-la...ss-uk-11277696

Although it does say, quote:

"JLR stopped production at its Solihull plant in Birmingham, which employs 10,000 people, and had planned to close the Castle Bromwich site, which employs 3,000, from Tuesday morning due to the shortage.
But a spokesman for water company Severn Trent said on Monday night that supply had been restored and the two businesses could now "use their water as normal".

I'm fairly sure all F-Types are still built at Castle Bromwich.

Most dealers don't know what colors the car comes in.

Default What was Jaguar building ...

Hi,

10/30/2017 I gave my dealer a deposit for a 2018 F-Type coupe.

11/30/2017 I had emailed a question to him. He replied that Jaguar was no long making 2018's and were, instead, making 2019's. But he was not able to access the Jaguar ordering system to change my order to a 2019.

03/02/2018 my dealer FINALLY was able to submit an order for a 2019 F-Type coupe. I now have a build date (4/13/2018) and a delivery date (4/27/2018).

Question: any idea what Jaguar was building during November through February when they supposedly could not build my 2018 and could not accept my order for a 2019?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
I can only say that my 18.5my was first supposed to be built on 3rd of april, pulled forward and has been built on 3rd of march...
Even 3 days after ordering I could not delay/cancel the order, as I wanted to have a my2019 since that would be a EURO6d petrol with DPF,
a very hot item in europe... And NO information from Jaguar, car manufacturers in general or the government... Its a russian roulette buying
an ICE in Europe now..

It can be they didn't want to rescedule my order as maybe now they make US-spec cars from april until july, and they start the EURO6d after that?!

Bill,

It seems logical that Dan_NL hit on your answer. They may well have been building 2018's for a different market area when they would not build your USA version.

Heard back from my dealer today,

---------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning Karim

They promised to give us allocations in March but thus far we have no allocations for 2019 F-Type. And truthfully we have no control over manufacture plan and allocations. I'll be happy to let you know as soon as we have the information available to us.

Thank you for your patience
